This Pitts third year at King. The first year he took a team he inherited to the NAIA National Tournament.

He then went out and brought in 7 new players I think.
Went back to the NAIA National.

He had 16 guys listed on his roster.. 5 Seniors.

This year he has went out and signed 10, 8 frieshman and 2 JUCO's.
One of the kids is from UH...

But what is up with that kind of player turnover. I know he lost most of his top players but that isn't rebuilding or reloading, thats... hell thats starting over it
Do they get scholarships and if so how many are allowed,, can they give partials? Just wondering how is managing all that.

Quote:BRISTOL, TN - Anthony Manuel, a 6’4” forward, from Tampa, Florida, signed with King College last week. Anthony averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds this past season for Wharton High School. Anthony is long, athletic, and skilled and should provide immediate help for the Tornado. Coach George Pitts announced that King has completed its recruiting for the 2008-09 season(You think???). Coach Pitts will have eight new freshmen on the roster, as well as, two junior college recruits.
Talk to some of our league rivals. They should be real familiar with it.

Not really Rod. I believe Belmont made the leap from NAIA to NCAA D1 in the 96-97 time frame.

I was pretty much thinking of the 4 teams that have joined since we got to the A-Sun.. the ones still on probation not a team that made the jump 10 years ago and been to the NCAA in back to back years, My bad.. I guess.

R
Traditionally NAIA has been a haven for the basketball player who could not academically fit in anywhere else.

Pitts also didn't exactly have the greatest reputation for his own players academic success when he was at Science Hill, witness the pipeline he had with Northern Idaho Junior College.

I'm purely speculating, but that is a theory that would answer your question.
