Central just got a HUGE commitment from Malek Redd. He ran a 4.27 40 at the U of M camp. He's shifty and I think it's safe to say he has an extra gear that probably won't be found anywhere else in the MAC.

No they just get banned... while the rest of the MAC has football players committing armed robbery and dealing drugs.

lol...No, but this kid looks like he'll be fun to watch. He's a little guy, but you gotta catch him before you can hit him...
Looks like he doesn't have the best acceleration or lateral movement, but man does he have great top end speed. He's pretty elusive too. Looks like a great grab for Central. Congrats Chips!

Not bad, just a tick or so faster than Ben Johnson ran on his way to a world record in the 100 meters (Johnson ran a steroid aided 4.38 split) but I'm sure that's an accurate time. Guy should stick with track.

04-jawdrop My goodness! I wasn't paying 100% attention at first, but I am pretty sure he scored on every tough for the first 5:26 of the video, and only hit the turf a two or three times during that spell. Amazing speed. He does have that extra gear. I'm happy for CMU, although I'll wish cramps on him when he faces the Bobcats!

As someone else put it on one of our other boards, "Forget a good angle, you need a horse and a lasso to catch this kid"

I'll tell Malek to eat lots of bananas before he suits up against the Bobcats....

From what I read the timing was hand held and on a track=4.54/40.
Still a nice time.I heard RR liked this guy.

There is no way he runs the 40 at 4.54. While you may debate whether he ran a 4.27 (which as I read he ran twice, although it wasn't stated whether it was hand timed or not) he is definitely running a sub 4.5 40. Did you watch the video? The kid has afterburners coming out of his ass...

RR did like this kid, as did BC, Wake, WVU, and a few other BCS schools.

I think part of Boca's point is that the majority of the 40 times out there are hand timed and not that accurate because of it. A 4.54 electronic time is actually pretty good.

He ran a 4.37 on turf with hand held timing at the Scout combine, adjust for electric timing and it's probably a 4.54,which is a decent time(Ben Johnson ran a 4.38 on the track with spikes as the World's Fastest Man as H20 posted).

Please understand I'm not saying he's not fast. Track guys just get a chuckle out of the distorted times football coaches give guys. If he really runs 4.9 and the average for running backs is 5.2 then he's still a blazer. My point is that the time they cited is silly- no way does he outrun Ben Johnson's steroid fueled world record 40 split.
