Good morning. Most rational MAC fans will concede Temple's D will be a gem this season. Perusing the rest of the MAC E, I note the following concerns:

Akron-Appears their 2 best defenders may not have beena fit for the Owls. DE Almondo Sewell and Bryan Williams, converting to Safety might be a bad sign for Zips

BGSU-They return 5 starting seniors to a defense that would have been statistically ranked last in the MAC if not for Ball St, Toileto, NIU and CMU

Buffalo-Are the Bulls really going to go to war w/ that undersized and inexperienced LB Corps. Two starters at a 190 pounds?

Kent-Staggered in losing their last 6 while giving up an average of 33 pts a game. Punter Matt Rinehart may prove to be their best recruit.

Miami-Did the Hawks (of Oh.) really give up 170 yards rushing to a QB in the MAC Champoionship game? This great division needs a better MAC East rep than that.

Only because we don't have a crazy shtick board.
This clearly belongs on the smack board.
Syty and Copeland are not starting in the fall, that much i can guarentee. Copeland will be moved back to DB. Plus, last year we had two smalls LBs at the same position, and they fared pretty well I'd say, especially against Temple.

I'd worry about how Temple's D contains some of the Os in the MAC East, I mean, we did score 42 last year. And sure, Temple's D is 10x better now than it was in week 2, but so is UB's offense.
Temple only played one team with an offense that ranked in the top 25 in Navy (#24). The next best offensive team was Bowling Green (#42). Both of those teams had no problems putting up points on Temple.

Here's how the rest of the offenses ranked that they played last year:

Buffalo - #91
Connecticut - #84
Army - #117
Northern Illinois - #94
Akron - #112
Miami - #79
Ohio - #81
Penn State - #58
Kent State - #80
Western Michigan - #60

I'd say by MAC standards their defense is good, but anyone who had a decent offense put up lots of points on them. Imagine if they had played in the MAC West where there were the better offenses in Toledo (#20), CMU (#22), and Ball State (#30). Half of the MAC West had offenses better than the MAC East's top offensive team (BGSU).

Temple gave up 438 yds and 447 yds of Total Offense to WMU and BGSU respectively.

Yes it does
Pretty ridiculous this ends up on the "smack" board. Every team capsule is factual. I guess the magic words of Toileto gets Karl's attention and, after all, this lil patch of cyberspace is his grand kingdom.

Man I wished Temple was playing Toledo this year. No chance though, since Toledo has more chance of me driving Jesus Christ down Bancroft Street in a ragtop than seeing its city football team playing in the post season.

Karl and Toledo suck.

Oh your jealousy of our program and our 10 MAC titles and multiple bowl games. which is more than anything temple has ever seen football is laughable.

Think what you will. You baited more than just Toledo with that post. The thread is where it belongs. You want to have a civil discussion about Temple and their prospects for the year, try posting without pissing off the other posters and slamming their schools in the process.

Oh, and you might want to take a poll of the other mods here. I haven't, but I'll bet you a root beer that all or most of them agree.

One more thing...

One more personal attack, and you'll find out how bad I suck.

You have got to be kidding me!! 04-jawdrop

Please pass this word on to all who slam Temple at the mere mention of the owls in a post. You will have to search long and hard to find a thread that has a Temple mention in it that doesn't soon turn into a slam fest at our expense.
Once again, a Temple poster gets his paddies slapped publicly while the "original" MAC members get to slam at will while the mods look the other way! Call it both ways ref or let them play.

If you will take the time to go read some of those threads to which you refer, I think you'll find more than once when I, or another mod, stepped in to chill it. The thread started with an inflammatory tone, flame-baiting everyone in the East and Toledo. Your friend didn't get "his paddies slapped publicly". I simply moved the thread he started to the appropriate forum. It became public when he took it public.

This thread was started to talk trash about the other MAC East schools and spark some responses, so he got what he intended and the thread ended up where it belongs.
Honestly, I can't wait till we beat the pi$$ out of the MAC this year, win the MAC title, and asap roll back to a real conference. And Karl, who the hell bets a "root beer"??? What, are we 12?

No offense, but you might want to aim for a winning season before you talk about winning the MAC and leaving for a BCS conference. I think you guys have a good of shot as anyone of winning the East this year, but the West is head and shoulders above the East division. The best team in the East probably wouldn't finish in the top half of the West.

Uh, dude, don't look now but you ARE the MAC. And as one who has bummed the odd adult beverage from Karl, I assure you if he is betting a root beer its because he's unwilling to give up the real thing should he lose.04-cheers

The "Crown Jewel of the MAC East" may be the Mac East defense going up against the Army offense that week. 02-13-banana

Are you bumping this thread because Temple just beat a 2-6 Ohio team...

Or

Did you just want me to come on here and point out that Temple is 0-3 vs UB in the three years since they have joined the MAC and have been outscored 81-38 in those games.
