I was thinking the same thing!
Poison? Def Leopard?
Exactly! Stone Temple Pilots?
most of those bands arent even heavy metal

and lol @ spinal tap
Rush is not Heavy Metal. Many of those are grunge which also is not heavy metal.
Thin Lizzy = Metal?

Robin Trower? Rush?

How about Motley Crue? GNR would be nothing without the Crue showing them how to destroy themselves.
This raises a question - how do you define heavy metal (or any other muscical genre for that matter)? Is there a standard definition or do you just know it when you hear it?
I think the more important question is what is spinal tap doing on that list?

I think its more you know it when you hear it.

back in the 30's and 40's the ONLY difference in blues and country was that whites sang country and blacks sung blues. and since there was no mtv the djs and stores would get them wrong sometimes.

and most of the stuff that comes out of Nashiville nowadays aint country-its pop with a southern accent.
Where is Rage Against the Machine?

I can see cred for near about everyone on that list.
Dio? Does he have enough of a body of work, on his own, to deserve to be in the top 25?

Hard rock and metal seem to fuse together often. Sometimes on the same album.

I believe the Scorpions would belong on that list also.
What? No Jethro Tull? They won best Heavy Metal grammy that one year....
is Jimi Heavy Metal?
GWAR!

Metallica was pissed that year... I believe "..And Justice For All" was up for an award in that category that year.
Queensyrche?
How about Honeymoon Suite.....

very underappreciated in their time.
