anybody know why he left?

because he wanted the job he accepted in the private sector. Just a thought.
For more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I hear that John moved back to Memphis to open up a restaurant with his son that retired from the NFL…..
Good Luck to them…

Glad to see that Will Smith was promoted to fill his position……

Hopefully we will see Will Smith’s position filled by someone from the Chicago area….which will help in recruiting local players…..

wil smith's position was not a recruiting or coaching position so it doesn't matter where the guy who fills it is from. the new guy won't be able to leave campus or call recruits. Having wil now in a recruiting position, even though he is not from around here, wil be a great addition because of his engaging personality, work ethic, and knowledge of the game. his relative youth will also be a positive factor although I will miss Coach A who had a great eye for talent.
Anybody know the name of the restaurant in Memphis?

I am a little worried that he moved up. With his movie career still going strong, can he spend enough time coaching and recruiting for us? 03-lmfao

You are correct that Will’s former position as Director of Basketball Operations does not include recruiting or coaching…..BUT….The DBO is usually a temporary position. When one of the other assistant coaches leave as Coach Anderson did. The DOB is usually promoted as Will was to fill Anderson's position……

Steve Walker is our top recruit for next year. His point average is about equal to the number of schools he has or will attend. I think this proves that we need help in recruiting the Chicago area. That’s why I think it would be good to hire an assistant that many Chicago HS BB coaches, players and NIU BB fans are familiar with.……

A good example was the hiring of Sean Harrington as a DOB. Sean was a great player from Elgin, played for Illinois and was an Ad Asst at Kansas….He was someone that many Chicago area BB coaches, players and NIU BB fans were familiar with.....

and harrington got us involved with or helped us sign WHICH players????????????
and harrington got us involved with or helped us sign WHICH players???????????? methinks with or without past chicagoland ties, Wil is a far better hire because of his other attributes including outgoing nature

Sean Harrington was made a full time assistant during the 2006-7 year. The staffs #1 and #2 players they wanted to sign for the following year were Tyler Storm and Mike Dununno……Compare their Junior stats to Steve Walkers…….

I just think it would help our program to hire a new assistant coach with Chicago ties, maybe even a Chicago HS BB coach as we did many years ago when we brought Robert Collins to our program. Robert wound up being a great asset to NIU........

are you suggesting harrington was significantly involved in the signing of either player? I hope not cuz DiNunno (at least spell his name right) was an Armato recruit that committed before Jud was fired and Storm did not commit until the new staff was on board, and, according to his father most likely would not have come to NIU under Jud (and harrington)...
He lived across the street from me. I heard that his son (who bought him his corvette) is opening a restaurant with him like elgin said. I heard he trashed the house in the short time they lived there. 03-lol
