When asked, Why do Bama fans not support UAB?, the response was...

Get real. Why should the greatest football program in the country and the greatest basketball program in the state be intimidated by either UAB or Auburn. No reason whatsoever. I love to see UAB win every game they play, football or basketball, and the same for Auburn. If you really feel threatened by either program doing well, you should go hide under your bed, or instead realize that their success will only become a motivational tool for Bama to become greater than they already are.

I think this showcases quite well the delusional mindset of your average Bammer: "the great football program in the country"

So many good quotes on that thread...it was hard to choose one.

Quote:If you live in Alabama and pay taxes, you should ask the state why it can't fund anything adequately, yet continues to pour millions into a UAB football program that loses money like a rowboat without a stern plug.

Troy made its own way. I can respect that. UAB went from nothing to Div-IA in a handful of years, pushed through by Birmingham lawmakers wanting to build political capital, Gene Bartow, and Auburn interests who knew it would cause friction with UA. Why support that?

You are correct about UAB's medical prowess. You might be surprised to know that the medical school there is called "The University of Alabama School of Medicine," not the UAB School of Medicine. That's because UAB was once little more than a satellite operation of UA. And to tell you the truth, that's probably how it should still be.
I like this one.

Quote:uab gets all the love they need from espn.

I hope that uab loses everytime they step onto the field - not because I don't like uab, but because they could possibly hinder our recruiting efforts in the future if they were to have sustained success.

I also hope that troy loses everytime they step onto the field - same reasons.

I'm not indifferent in this matter as I would never say something like "I don't care if they win or lose" - No.....no no....I do care if they win or lose.
I WANT THEM BOTH TO LOSE EVERY GAME THEY PLAY.

The syncophants at espn understand this and have done everything they can short of televising all uab and troy home games.

Expect a continuance of the love fest as I suspect that espn will resume it's puppy love crush with uab and troy state.

Yeah, ESPN is out to get you guys... :loco:
With both UAB and Troy having players go in the first round and Bammer not having one until the 3rd, even the most diehard and delusional fans of UAT have finally started to acknowledge our two schools as competetion even if they haven't fully realzied us as a threat.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
"Troy made its own way"???????

Funny. I've never seen Troy, Troy State, et al, ever on a list of the Division I schools that either break even or make a profit in athletics.

I guarantee you that the university is subsidizing the Trojan athletic department in some way, shape or form, just as nearly 80 percent of Division I-A universities do.

Not necessarily. I've spoken with a few UAT fans to rub it in and they ones I've spoken with are blaming the NCAA. They keep saying that it's the NCAA's fault for cutting scholarships. It's NCAA's fault :crying: :crying: :crying: . My response to this: "Wasn't it Bama's rules violations that put them in this situation? Bama is lucky the NCAA didn't give them the death penalty." Blaming the NCAA is like putting the entire blame of an overcrowded prison on the cops for arresting too many people.

Thus spake George III in 1776.

Pat Dye was right.

"Bama people don't want you walking on the same side of the street as them. They'd have you in chains if they could."
