Thanks Dave,
Great to see these picks as it means the season is just around the corner! CMU fans are very excited about our chances to threepeat. As a partial CMU fan, I do think you are underestimating Antonio Brown as a WR and as a return specialist. This kid is something special. Let's hope the MAC has a breakout season in our OOC games.

Arrow,
Thats alright Louis Delmas isn't even on the 2 deep. Tells me alot about the cred of the writer. I think hes pissed he couldn't get into WMU or CMU.
Brown and Delmas could easily have All-MAC seasons. We voted second-teamer Brown Freshman of the Year last year before the official awards were announced and Delmas is part of an aboslutely stud secondary at WMU.

The MAC is blessed with some terrific returning talent this season.

Appreciate the feedback --
Dave,
I know it's impossible to make us all happy as we are just rabid fans looking out for our players! HA We get to see our guys every week and sometime we see special things in our players that others may miss.
Nice work as usuall Dave. I'm sure Lou Delmas will end up more highly ranked on the post season list.

With any luck the conference will bounce back after crowning its worst champion in 50+ years. I doubt we will see a 6 loss team that gets blown out at home by FCS competition, and lets 70 points get scored against them win the conference this season. To win the MAC in 2008 a team will have to be at least one of the top 60 teams in America.

Obviously my post was noted in the spirit of rivalries. As always good job noted.

Lima, you are quite the historian. You don't have to go back too far, certainly not 50+ years, to find some less than stellar league champions. How about 2000, when Marshall went 5-3 in the league and even lost back to back games (to UT 42-0, and to that all-time league powerhouse WMU, 30-10)? Or maybe the Akron team from 2005 that went 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the MAC with losses to Ball State 23-17, Miami 51-23, and CMU, 31-17?

Granted, CMU had a poor OOC performance in '07. However, having a Worstern fan whining about the "worst champion in 50+ years" sounds like sour grapes from a fan whose team couldn't beat the Chippewas on their home field when it counted. Sure, it wasn't the beat down you got in '06, but the Chippewas will take it and the back to back championships that followed. 04-rock

Since WMU's last championship was in the 80's, I wasn't able to see how great a championship team that was. Sorry.

Who is Lima ?

Yeah we lost that game last year 01-wingedeagle03-lmfao
Central was the worst MAC Champion in 50+ years but they were completely deserving of the championship. They were the best team in what turned out to be a historically down year in the MAC.

In 2000 Marshall beat Cincinnati in a bowl game by double digits.
In 2005 Akron beat a really good NIU team in one of the most exciting MACC games ever, and beat a D1A non conference opponent on the road. Something CMU hasn't been able to do in either of their last two championship seasons.
In 2007 Central Michigan lost 6 games including one at home to a FCS team by 30 points, one in which they allowed 70 points, another in which they allowed 63, and lost to an average Purdue team twice in the same year while having more than 50 points scored against them each time.

The crowning achievement of the CMU season in 07 seems to be sneaking out of Kalamazoo with a controversial decision in a mid week game. That and beating a sub .500 Miami team in the worst MACC game ever played.

Like I said worst MAC champion in 50+ years.
If WMU would of learned how to close out games (Akron, CMU, etc), I have a sneaky feeling that Liam wouldnt be here proclaimng WMU the worst MAC champion in 50 years. I am sensing lots of sour grapes here.
As much as I appreciate the amature psycology I'm not arguing the results of any game or claiming that the championship wasn't deserved. Just pointing out that the conference was down and the team that squeeked out the title lost 6 games, and was an embarassment out of conference.

Don't feel bad though. Being the worst MAC champion in over 50 years is still better than not winning a championship at all. But some team has to bethe worst of the best and the 07 Chippewas are that team.

I just checked the record books again and I couldn't find any reference to the worst MAC champion in 50 yrs???
Check under the results of the FCS North Dakota State @ Central Michigan game. If it still says that the MAC Champs lost at home to a lower division team by 30 points then that is all you need to read.

I guess they give out trophies and rings for that??? What do you get for beating a BCS team and finishing 4th in the MAC West?
I don't get a ring or a trophey for anything WMU does on the field. I'm just an observor of college football and my observation for the MAC this year is that a team in going to have to be in the top 60 teams in America to win the conference.

A champion the calibar of last season's won't cut it this year because the teams have improved.

I totally agree, the MACC will be harder to come by in '08.
