Congratulations to T.C. on his victory last night. He has made NIU proud by his accomplishment. He truly is what the Olympic spirit and what NIU is all about as he never gave up on his dream. He will represent us well in Beijing.

Hopefully the university and athletic department will do something to recognize him at the appropriate time.

Is he the first NIU alum to represent us in the Olympics?

Congrats T.C. you are a class act!
Wow, that's awesome. Looks like he wrestled here quite some time ago. I wonder if our program was as good then as it is now.
I am the same age as T.C. and remember him well as a student athlete. First class guy all the way. The program wasn't as high back then, however he was garnishing individual accolades.
He played football as well, right? That shows a lot right there!
A great selling point for all of our sports recruiting:

"NIU is a school that produces Olympic caliber student athletes"
He played football, but I don't think he played that much. Hell of wrestler and great guy.

........"WC"..........
NIU had a swimmer, Jarod Schroeder, who swam at the Olympic Time Trials in 2000. Fell short of qualifying but had a great amateur career. He is the Head Coach at Maryland now.

Didn't he also go on to become Chancellor of Germany? That's a pretty big accomplishment!
T.C. was in the opening pictures of SI this week. Didn't mention NIU, but had two pictures of him.

He played quite a bit in 1991(?) actually. He was probably our best running back (on a really terrible team) and it seemed like he went out for football as a lark. He was one of the few reasons to watch that year, though.

I guess Adam Dach was the best RB on that team, but he had one direction-- straight ahead. Teams pretty much bottled him up all year, but Dach kept pounding. Dantzler was the only other guy that could pick up a first down.

All 18 of us Huskie fans back then got hoarse from yelling "Put in Rugai!" all season long.

I thought he played quite a bit. Bill Baker still mentions him once in a while.
