Lindy's says WMU is the 10th best team in the MAC overall?????

East:
1. Miami
2. Kent State
3. Bowling Green
4. Akron
5. Ohio
6. Temple
7. Buffalo

West:
1. Central
2. Ball State
3. Toledo
4. Northern Illinois
5. Western
6. Eastern

Seems off to me.
Athlon may be a bit better. Where do these guys come up w/ this stuff anyways?

Seems to me the MAC is getting cred w/ the two QB's @ Central and in Muncie. A lot of this has to be off the wall crap for teams to move up and down a list so severely from one perspective to another.
Everybody seems to have Miami and BG as 1 and 2. I think BG might be the better team and I think their schedule is more favorable. I'm going BG then Miami 1 and 2.
No way does Temple finish either 6th or 7th.

This is a young team which will improve year to year and did so last year.

In the MAC West hard to go against Central and BSU.
Lindy's is horrible, I think Athlon and Steele are the best.

I think BG, Miami, UB, Temple is the way to go for the East, maybe Kent up there as well.
Not all of them are out. Watch for Blue Ribbon later this month -- by far the most indepth. Blue Ribbon is the source used by the national media and media in general. It's the only one that contains information POST-SPRING camp and talks in depth about every position on every team.

(In the interest of full disclosure, I am a contributing editor to Blue Ribbon).

Blue Ribbon interviews EVERY head coach for its previews and the MAC gets equal billing and coverage with all of the other conferences.

Also, for the first time ever, a publication dedicated solely to previewing the MAC will be published by MAC Report Online and available for download at only $4.95 from MAC Report Online starting on July 7. It will have indepth previews for every team plus planned features from several writers on some of the MAC's top players, an interview with the commish and some other stuff. It looks like it will come in around 70-75 pages.

Okay...turning off my best Billy Mayes impression now...
Lindy's wouldn't know MAC Football or any other non-bcs football league from a hole in the ground! Ball State WMU and CMU are all three going to be damn good football teams this year and the MAC West will be one of the TOUGHEST DIVISIONS IN ALL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL TO WIN THIS YEAR! And this is coming from an East Carolina fan that has no ties to the MAC.

I will be buying this. Thanks for the heads up.

That's fine. I'd prefer the preseason mags and polls not predict us to be among the cream of the crop. We seem to perform better in those situations.

How can you say Athlon is good when they don't list LeFevour or Davis among the nation's best QB's?It's amazing the BCS guys are
listed in the rags as the nation's best players, then the NFL drafts
the MAC and mid-major guys ahead of a number of highly touted
BCS players.
I expect the MAC to be much better this year, in fact the best overall strength in several years. The Championship will come down to who can stay away from injuries, who gets a much needed break, and even favorable weather for the games.

I see the West as overall tougher with three "A" teams:
CMU, BSU, and WMU

Toledo as an "A-"

EMU and NIU as "B" teams.

In the East two "A-" teams:
Miami and BG

Three "B" teams:
Buffalo, Kent State, and Temple

Two "C" teams:
Akron and Ohio

It is going to be really tough for anyone to get through the MAC season without a loss and as many as 4-5 teams have a legitimate chance to win it all. I can't wait for the season to start! 02-13-banana
For anyone who puts any credence at all in these rankings, it seems they conveniently forget history lessons.

I find it funny that we are getting ranked so low.

At this point in time I am starved for football in the worst way. I'd read a publication put out by a 3 year old if he talked about the MAC.
Then here are my carefully studied picks:

East
1. Ohio
2. Buffalo
3. BGSU
4. Kent St.
5. Temple
6. Miami
7. Akron

West
1. WMU
2. Ball St.
3. CMU
4. EMU
5. NIU
6. Toledo

I have a system that I believe is equal to any so-called expert. 03-wink
Oh, I believe the system of using ones head surpasses what the experts believe to be true about the MAC. I mean, come on. They have to devote so much time to making sure they know about Duke and Wake Forest, expecting them to do actual research on the MAC is laughable.

Dar. Maybe that is why I enjoy the MAC as I do.

Toledo ended up with the #1 Offense in the MAC last year and will only
be better this year.In '07 the Rockets lost 5 starters on "D" and was #3 in the nation in lost starts, more than any other MAC team.UT returns 50 lettermen and a number of new impact players.A favorable schedule with the Rockets hosting CMU,Ball State,Miami, and BGSU in the Glass Bowl, where the Rockets are 41-6over the last 10 years,
should have UT in the hunt for a MAC West title.
I only buy Phil Steele's anymore. I used to get 4 or 5 every year but Steele's is all I need. I certainly like his pick of BG vs CMU for the MACC. :)

Only 82 days til kickoff....

BEAT PITT
Ohio has a couple of QB who could give Solich what he has been looking for. Dual threat QB's who can thrown or run with the ball. Boo Jackson seems very similar to Omar Jacobs the former BGSU star QB. This kid is very accurate and can run the football if he wants to. He has the hair style to boot.
i'm not sure why miami and bg are such consensus picks in the east. miami was a middle of the pack mac team last yr, true, they edged out a few east teams for the title but there was no separation there. temple and buffalo were as good as anyone in the league outside of cmu for stretches last season and temple has another pretty good recruiting class. ohio has been one of the better mac programs the past few years and has a pretty dynamic new qb so they could show improvement.

in the west ball st, central and toledo will have the league's best offenses. but only central has had a half decent d the past couple yrs if either ball st or toledo (who hosts both) show improvement on d they will be very tough to beat. western is as deep as anyone in the league yr to yr. and eastern is no longer a pushover. niu was really bad last yr. i'm surprised to see some publications picking them in the middle of the west with a new coach and thin roster, but they do have a good back and some quality linemen to potentially control the ball if they play better football in general.
