I concur.

As an alum who was never quite sure what those "activities fees" were for, you're welcome.

I believe free memberships for a year should be sent to all alumni who paid into the project during their tenure at UAB, but never got to enjoy the finished facility as a student.
I.E. STL, dfarr, Smaug, etc.

They would probably claim that all of the "old" money went to other things.

It's kinda like parents and their children.
You pour all you have into them, and their payback to you is to do the same for the next generation.

At one time they had discussed giving alumni that had graduated in the past few years at least a free membership for one year. If they don't do that then that's fine but at least give us some free passes or something.

Thanks,
I have a great bunch of guys that worked on the project. I will let them know. There are about 300 people that had a hand in building the REC and they all should be proud.
I would also like to thank Dragonash for his part in the project and the nice job with all the pavers.
I also enjoyed giving the tours to several of you that came by.
The project I am on now I really can't talk about except that it's near Ft Walton Beach and on Hurlburt Field (Part of Eglin) and not near as big as the REC but vital to the defense of our country. I have already been through one scarry bomb threat on base and security is tighter than our budget at UAB.......
It's no fun pouring concrete when your trucks are getting hot while being searched by armed soldiers with enough firepower to wipe out a town. :D
I just want to complete this project ASAP and get home before football season....

Hurlburt field is the headquarters for AFSOC...Air Force Special Operations Command. It is a VERY nice base and has won many awards nationally for how nice it is.

YEP, I am adding too that.
SLB let me know if you are ever in the area, I have a place on Okaloosa.
Lots of C-130s and Spectres around. You get the occasional C-5 and C-17.
We see the F-15s every day playing as well.
Right now there is a squadren of A-10 Warthogs (Tank busters) from Pope in NC visiting and doing a little training. They have been fun to watch. They are raising hell outside as we speak......
