Anyone living in Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming will get the mtn on Direct TV's Choice package or above. The same deal will be offered in designated market areas of Dallas/Fort Worth and San Diego. Everyone else will need to take the Direct TV Sports package to get the mtn.

Expansion is fueled by TV. This why I like Hous in MWC, Would combination of Hous & TCU get Direct TV on choice package in state of Tex. Would combination of SDST, Frenso & SJST get direct TV on choice packare in Cali.
Boise St would only get choice package in Idaho.

Here is how I see it, programs like Houston and San Jose St are not even an after thought in their own market. Now programs like Fresno St and UTEP control the majority of their market. Then there is a program like Boise St who controls the majority of all the markets in the whole State.
More than like by adding programs like Houston or UTEP or San Jose St or Fresno St, would not bring the whole Texas or California markets. They would only bring the same thing TCU and San Diego St does and that is designated market areas. So it comes down numbers IMO, how much control do those programs have in there markets.

8-5 TCU- #5 Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX, 2,435,600 households, attendance 30,018; 81.14 households per fan attending game

5-7 San Jose St- #6 San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, CA, 2,419,440 households, attendance 15,465; 156.45 households per fan attending game

8-5 Houston- #10 Houston, TX, 2,050,550 households, attendance 20,955; 97.85 households per fan attending game

4-8 San Diego St- #27 San Diego, CA, 1,051,210 households, attendance
27,940; 37.62 households per fan attending game

9-4 Fresno St- #55 Fresno-Visalia, CA, 568,730 households, attendance 36,291; 15.67 households per fan attending game

4-8 UTEP- #98 El Paso, TX, 302,470 households, attendance 36,569; 8.27 households per fan attending game

Now in 2006 San Jose St went 9-4 and attendance was 18,854
In 2006 UTEP went 8-4 and attendance was 47,899; San Diego St went 5-7 and attendance was 36,223. So it looks if the 3 programs with loosing programs have better years their attendance will go up.
But in Houston's case they have been doing pretty good in football and have an enrollment of over 35,000. Yet with a record of 24-15 over the last 3 years their attendance average over that times is 19,306...

Large markets with little fan support don't do much for me, the WAC 16 tried that and it failed in a very big way. The Networks are know fools, they what kind of market share each program holds and Boise St's will kick Houston's butt every time this decade.
10-4 Boise St- #113 Boise, ID, 251,920 households, attendance 30,338; 8.30 households per fan attending game, now if Bronco Stadium was bigger Boise St's attendance would higher. Over the last 4 years Boise St has averaged 30,351 per game or 101.2% capacity. Boise St has page after page (I've heard 27 of them) full of fans names who want season tickets that can't get them because none are available.

Now I like large markets with little fan support, they can grow in the right situation & a plan. Boise proabally does have better TV #'s right now because they have sime-national following, but that is not a given. they struggle a little bit & different paramaters they could lose national interst.
Now I Know you don't like SJST in MWC. There building 49ers stadium in Santa Clare which is right on top of San Jose. Now if SJST can get Stanford to play them there every yr. Every other yr BYU game could be played there, Maybe Frenso & Air Force games would be able to grow into stadium.
Hous at times in the SWC brought in good crowds to the Astrodome, There are games that Hous could play in Reliant Stadium.

IMO, it was not Houston who brought the good crowds it was more Texas and Texas A&M fans feeling the place. Houston will never rank more than 3rd in the Houston market, way behind both Texas and Texas A&M... IMO, UTEP is a way better option than Houston and I'm pretty sure the MWC Presidents feel the same way...
