Hey!

I am about to buy a new Canon XT (digital SLR). I have been looking around trying to get the best price and I thought, maybe... just maybe.... there is a Blazer fan out there with some connections. I have been to most of the common sites looking at prices. Do any of you have any connections of where I could buy a camera and save a little dough? It looks like the best deal I can find is about $840 w/out a lens or $930 w/ the basic 18-55 mm lens.

Why in the world do you need a $1000 camera?
Hmmmm...

Perhaps to take quality digital photographs of things?
I'm guessing what LJ's reply is:

"Because a $1000 camera takes high-resolution pictures."

Was I close? 03-lol 03-lol

Guess what, LJMoron. My $300 camera takes high-res pictures, too.
Yet another incident of namecalling when someone responds to one of your ridiculous comments.

Imagine that.

Is it any of your business?

Did anyone ask you? 03-confused
Please try not to derail my thread. Your $300 camera may be 8 megapixel (I doubt it) but it isn't an SLR I can assure you.

Why do you need a late model Mustang? A Hyundai would get you back and forth to school for a fraction of what you pay....

those are about what the prices run on WWW://KEH.COM so i doubt you will find a much better deal at a reputable dealer unless you get lucky and hit a sale.

BTR, I talked to a buddy today who works at a camera shop in Atlanta. For what it's worth, he said that you will be lucky to beat those prices.

You should look at the Nikon D 70. With the new Nikons hitting the market the old D 70's are going for $1,000 (i edited the price after i decided i did not trust the site with that price) with a 17-80mm NIKKOR lens. Its a 6.1 instead of 8 but the nikor lenses are better than the cannon. I think it would be worth reading up on and the fact that its compatable with other Nikkor lenses gives you much more versatility.

Thanks for checking. I REALLY appreciate your help. I was thinking the same thing about the pricing but I wanted to see what others thought. I really do not like buying items like this without being there to look at them and test it out. I also don't like not being able to shop around to make sure I am getting the best price.

I will be in Richmond this weekend so I hope to order one in the next day or two and pick it up when I get there! I should have some good shots on the picture site soon :)

Thank you, BTR. :glares at Mountain Man: :gun: :gun:

What is SLR?

This is where the thread got off track - for the one person who can't figure that out.
Let me translate Sax's post:

Wow, BTR...$1000 is a lot to spend on a camera. I know it's none of my business, but may I ask what a person would use such an expensive camera for? Professional photography?

Legitimate question.

Thank you Sarah. LJ has been proven to be a moron, yet again.

Just give it up, man.
Please. You must be joking. Even if that was what you meant, she clarified the "legitimate question" with the first STATEMENT in the translation.
