Earle Hagen, who composed thousands of songs for TV and movies, died today.

We know him as the man behind the whistle of The Andy Griffith Show. Not only did he compose the song, he whistled it.

One of my ex-girlfriend's parakeet would whistle that song all day long.
I had a cockatiel that could whistle it, too. He would ride on my shoulders and sit with me at the pool. He could also wolf-whistle. When a guy does it, it's sexist. When the cockatiel does it, it's an aphrodesiac. 03-lol

Sadly, no. He died a few years ago after living a long, productive life. He was actually my dad's. My dad had him when he married my mom. It worked on her.
