Not much to report other than the tomato plants are really loving this sun and warm nights. They are all about 3 feet high now and lots of blooms.....so far so good. I think I will re-fertilize this weekend with the fish and worm poop. I've been really really enjoying the fresh asparagus out of the garden. Me being the "hate to cook" person I am, bought my very first double-boiler this week so I can attempt to make some hollandaise sauce for the asparagus. I know, I'm taking something very healthy and making it not-so-healthy but heck, it's so good !! Kirk, I'll try to remember to take some pics. All the annuals are doing good too. A few pics from around the yard and the garden. Oh yeah, the last pic is of my new composter. You guys/gals talked me into starting this. I officially broke it in this morning with stuff from this past week ...coffee grounds (lots of them!) and alot of peelings off of the tomatoes & cucs & the ends of the asparagus that I cut off. I also dead-headed all the patio flowers/plants and threw that in too. I guess you just have to get used to saving all this good stuff for compost instead of throwing it away. I'm learning as I go. I'll get the guys that cut my grass to throw in the grass clipping this week too. My composter is pretty small and not that expensive (Memphis has very few). Once I get the hang of it I'll go with a bigger and better one and get serious about it. I have talked to friends in other parts of the country that are very serious composters and they have spent up to $600 on their rigs. 04-jawdrop Anyway, enjoy your weekend in the yard and garden or wherever you may end up and be safe !! the end

Did you call Kenneth and Vador this morning?

03-lmfao no, ...I haven't listened to them in a while now...maybe I should.
Looking good MsJTiger
Our tomatoes are loving the fish guts! lol
Have a great weekend!
Outstanding! Just finished walking around my garden. Plenty of blooms and the newly plants flowers have done well with the rain this week, too.

I love Saturdays. As a drink my coffee on the patio and just listened to the "Sounds of Saturday" I was amazed at all the different sounds. Many movers and few weed whackers. My cat " Elbow" was ambushed by a mother black bird. She didnt like the cat in the back yard and this bird let everyone know who was the boss. Elbow couldn't wait to get back inside. I finished my display case and will be taking the door to the glass guy today. I hope to have the display finished and hung on the wall next week. I will do a thread outlining my adventures in the wood shop.

Getting ready to dig worms out of my compost pile. The family is going fishing out at the farm tomorrow.

You inspired me MissJ, I actually bought a tomato plant this week. This year it's just pot-growing, and I'll probably kill it, but it's been 20 years since I even tried. Here's two rather sad photos of what I haven't killed yet:

The purple blooms are chives, in the foreground is Sage. They have merged over the past year.

These are the basil plants they are still alive. The one on the left is African basil, the other three are Italian sweet basil. The African tastes different but loves the blazing Memphis summers.

I'm glad your same three asparagus are doing well. They don't seem to grow much, though.

missj, is that you in the photo standing proudly in front of your garden????
I need to do a ground cover that would do well in 50% sun mostly the morning time. I lost a big tree last summer and the dynamics of my yard has changed. I used to plant my bedding plants there but now there is was too much sun. I want something that blooms all summer if there is such a plant. This is under several tall pine trees.
WooHoo MissJ.....good for you! Everything is looking good. I am out to get the stuff to build my own compost. (Hope all these rich snobs living next to me don't get too upset....haha)
