Full Version: They forced me to do it

For over 16 years I had a stead fast rule. I do not talk about problems at Riverside Speedway on any board other than the Riverside messageboard. The old concept of keeping family troubles in the family. I have finally reached a point where the new ownership and his group of cronies have forced me to abandon that philosophy. Last weekend we had a situation where another the family member of a driver who just happened to be a friend of the track owner came into the pit area of another driver and start a fight. Because he was more mouth than a$$ he got his a$$ kicked. As far as myself and the driver he started trouble with, this was the end of it. Although the rule is very clear that any driver crew member or family member of a driver who enters another drivers pit area to argue or fight is considered the aggressor. The family member according to the rules should have been kicked out of the track and the driver could have lost points and money for the night. Neither happened. Again no one was making a big deal out of it and it was about to die down and move on. That is until this past weekend when the guy who got his a$$ kicked starting crying about the other guys car and the Tech crew MADE UP a rule on the spot and is forcing the other driver to completely rebuild the cars steering or not come back. There is only one racing messageboard where racing at this track is discussed and when the subject was brought up. I was told in no uncertain terms to shut up and mind my own business. Even though I showed them the rule in the book I was told if I knew what is best for me I would shut up and stay out of it. I WAS BEING THREATENED BY FRIENDS OF THE GUY WHO STARTED THE TROUBLE. Well, since the board is also ran by one the new owners group of cronies. Little is done to address the issue except for trying to cover it up. I pride myself for every year reading the complete rule book for every class over and over till I can notice any violation at a quick glance. Here are some interesting items in the rule book that the previous owner never felt a need to have in the rule book. Weapons: While the previous owner had a b an on weapons on the property, the new owners goes as far as saying if you bring a weapon on the property that you will be arrested and your gun will be taken. I tell you this if I have my carry permit and I carry my gun with me. He may have the right to refuse me admission, but I have not violated any laws so he cannot have me arrested and he sure as hell is not going to take my weapon. Litigation: If for some reason you bring legal action against the track you will be fined and you will have to pay the attorney fees for the track. Who in the hell does this guy think he is telling us that we will pay him a fee for the right to sue him for something and we will pay his attorney fees. I guess with the way he selectively enforces the rules he has to find a way to keep control of the situation. I guess he knows that if someone would to ever take it to court that he would have a hard time explaining his rulings.
If the contract has a illegal constriction on your rights than whatever the track owner says really doesn't matter. If he fines you don't pay it. Do you have an arbritration agreement with the track because that changes things dramatically.
I have attended the track since 1958 and have been a car owner since 1990. This year we will either sell the cars or run a different track. Sad part of the deal is that so many people are more concerned with the fact that the guy is modernizing the track, painting the facility and cleaning it up. They do not care that the racing surface is the worst it has ever been and some racers do not believe they can believe anything the new owner tells them. I only hope the track survives to see its 60th anniversary next year.
Sad to hear that, is it a circle track, dirt track, or quarter mile
