Northern Illinois is on the list along with Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Oklahoma. Do we know what schools he is leaning toward?
Kedzman Wrote:Do we know what schools he is leaning toward?

Not really. He gushed about Notre Dame (shocking) and said he was going to junior days at Purdue and NIU. No offers yet that I can see.
Given the schools on that list I would say NIU is an extreme longshot.
Beware of Kedz and QBs.

I didn't read in that article that he was offered.

I don't think he has offers from any schools yet. So I'm not sure his list means a whole lot until he starts getting offers.
I played against this kid when I was a senior in 2005 and he was a freshman. He is Don Beebe's gem.

Where did you go to High School?

It is pretty amazing that this kid has started every game since his freshmen year. What were the results of the game you played against him?

You make a very good point. I actually made a friendly wager with one of the other posters (forgot who it was...) that Roberts would end up at a BCS school. The other poster felt he would end up at a mid-major.

What I do know is that Roberts wants to stay close to home. Therefore, ND, Northwestern or NIU would be "within range". If he does not break into a BCS program, then NIU has a decent shot, eh?

The X-factor is that coach Don Beebe, the Roberts family and coach Kill are all evangelical Christians which may be a good fit when it comes to the culture of the coaching environment.

LOL. Billy Lowe all over again...

Billy, his father and I still keep in touch. He's very comfortable back in the south and doing quite well. He does miss some of the people and experiences he had a NIU.

I went to Rockford Christian Life, and Aurora whooped on us that year like they always did.
Quote:Roberts........has thrown for 7,911 yards and 86 touchdowns so far in his high school varsity career.......

Proud parents he must have.
I don't want anything to do with this kid...... He is a big fish in a tiny pond.......

How many yards did your son throw for in high school.05-stirthepot

Are you suggesting we only recruit kids from 7A and 8A schools? Is there no talent to be found at a 3A school?

What does my son have to do with this topic?
His son is on a division 1A team that regulary has a great offensive line. I'd say he's done pretty well for himself, only so many people can play quarterback.
Roberts is a back-up plan, Plan B-type recruit for the BCS schools right now. He is a "camp kid" and will have to travel this summer and throw live to convince schools he is good enough to earn an offer.

NIU probably has a decent shot of getting him (if they want him) based on what I know. It's unlikely that he is going to get offers from ND, Oklahoma, Colorado, etc. any time soon. It could happen, but I doubt it.
My guess is we'll get a QB late in the recruiting cycle much like this year. We got Brandon Rogers when last minute offers from Kansas and Tulsa didn't materialize and I bet the same sort of thing happens in Jan/Feb 09.

As I recall, first MI and then Iowa(who he signed with) offered Tuscola(1A team)John Wienke. The major scouting services had him rated as the best QB in the state. If Roberts has the same type of year in the Suburban Christian Conference playing much better competition (Driscoll, Montini, Marian Central, Marmion, IC, St. Francis) than he did last year he will get BCS offers as the SCC had several players sign with BCS programs last year.
