for the one that navy blindsided the BE in the meineke.
Here are the problems I see with Texas

1. It pays jack. Less than 750k. What was it something like 375k last year?

2. Not within driving distance of any of the Big East schools.

3. The Big East doesn't have a good alumni base in Texas.

4. Not in the Big East's footprint as MT likes to say.
agree, but not worse than 6-6 staying home when other conf 6-6 playing, practicing, etc.

The Big East at 6-6 will pick up an at-large opening over the non-BCS schools that are 6-6.

I bet there is no more than 3-4 schools with 6-6 records sitting at home next year all WAC, MAC, SBC type schools.
The one thing to remember is that starting last year 6-6 teams can't be chosen over 7-5 teams unless the conference is affiliated with a bowl. Last year 6-6 Northwestern, Iowa, and South Carolina didn't go bowling while 7-5 non BCS teams did. Granted, last year was exceptional in a lot of ways.

That has always been the rule.

The Big Ten just happened to have a lot of 6-6 teams last year.

What? What does that have to do with this? It wasnt the Texas bowl faults. It was MT. At least put the blame where it belongs. Because CUSA would never agree for the change in Birmingham either.

Then cut Cusa out of the Tropicana Bowl and give it to the SEC. Hang on to everything you have. If Notre Lame takes the Gator Bowl the BE may need the Texas Bowl for a 6 and 6 team. Besides it pays $200k more the that cheap Papa Johns Bowl. 03-puke 05-stirthepot 04-cheers
I think You are all looking at this as adversaries.. I don't think that happened here.. all partys worked together for the good of all. The BE and CUSA have 2 more bowl games locked up than they did before the deal..My guess is the SEC wanted birmingham being its headquarters are there. The BE is better off today than it was a month ago.
i don't see why you are all so mad C-USA has 6 decent bowls...the BE has a good bowl line up...and oh yeah, the BE has a BCS bowl.

the Texas bowl makes perfect sense for C-USA...it doesn't pay over 400,000...and C-USA has 4 Texas teams in 1 division.

this will be C-USA's 4th straight year to get 6 bowls...

Go Tigers!!!

Actually nobody here has talked about C-USA's number of bowl slots. If you notice, the majority of the people who are complaining are MAC and C-USA fans and a Temple fan. In fact, this subject would have died if not for some a few non-Big East fans complaining about the Big East trading off the Texas Bowl as if the Big East just gave away the Sugar Bowl or something.
