Those have been ruined since they got rid of the email format. Most of the old crew have stopped posting over there or post rarely now compared to before. Their moderation style is not very likable either.

I just looked at BCN and he is indeed up to his old tricks. He's turned into a virus on UC boards.
Yeah, I was posting over there, and me and another poster were having it out with the Donger, and we got a warning, so my posting has become less over there.
I think the absence of Gruehls has something to do with this.

And that's sad. He used to be the "counterpoint" over here after Huggins left. But now he does nothing but trash Mick and the UC program and purposely try to shoot down ANY positive threads. Some people might find that fun and creative but it becomes annoying very fast and starts driving people away from the board. That's the reason I stayed away from this board for awhile. Criticism is ok, it would be boring and restrictive if that weren't allowed. But when your entire message board existence is to trash the current coach and program while build up a coach who has been gone for 3 years then you just become a cancer.

Don may have been testing the waters, however Sublea was just passing along Don's group email message as Don had requested.
I would think someone as used to controversy, turmoil and the time-out seat as you, might have a kinship with the BDong'eers, but I guess not.
I always appreciated what Don brought to the table. He is very pessimistic about the direction of the UC program,...but I thought he was a healthy alternative to the "Mick is going to be the best thing ever for UC" posters. It's easier to like them because they are being positive about our team, but in the end the positions Don took were not that unreasonable. The fact that most coaches do not succeed is kind of a big deal. Few coaches in the country can win big year in and year out...UC had something special and there is no guarentee that ever comes back.
I think this board is more reasonable about that then a few of the posters on the other board (ralph really stands out as one who is completely in love with cronin, has incredibly lofty expectations and belittles Huggins any chance he gets).. It's funny, because i think some of the people who have seen Don's work in the past were really quick to hijack any thread where Don posted and use it to rip on Don...
Those who had not actually answered Don's questions and there was some good debate around the points Don actually brought up. I actually do miss the perspective he brought here. If people viewed some of what he said as a challenge and opportunity for discussion instead of rehashing the same stuff I think he would have been fine.
Don was/is a good guy. Just because the Huggins situation effected him more negatively than some on here and the fact that it really destroyed his view of UC, doesn't make him a bad guy or someone who is deserving of some of the piling on venom that has been spewed towards him. His bitterness was in the extreme minority but he is still a good man in my book.
