Cross said, "he has not spoken with Kashif Payne, who sat out the 2007-08 season for personal reasons but would have a year of eligibility remaining."

If he hasn't spoken to Payne yet it obviously isn't a priority.

Good luck Kashif and thanks for a couple years of exciting hoops.

It was Payne who left the team so it's up to Payne to make the contact IMO. I gave up on him a few weeks ago when I hadn't heard anything about him coming back. We knew Davis was gone, but until now it was only rumored that Harvey was gone as well. As far as I've heard, Becklins and Tubbs are going to class and study table and are on track. It sounds like Cross is happy with what we have at the post and is going strictly after guards.
Tubbs better be the second coming of Tom Kozelko if what I saw in the post this year is indicative of what we have returning. (I tried to think of a more recent post guy but other than Casey Shaw I couldn't think of anybody who dominated and we just used Casey in another thread).

All I can say is that everything Cross has said concerns recruiting guards. He hasn't said anything about going after a post player, so I reason that either there aren't any available or what we have is satisfactory.
3 star 6'8" 250 Center Darius Morrow has been released from his LOI to South Carolina and had an UT offer( I'm not sure if it is current). He is not going because of HC changes.Darius says is open to all schools right now.
Cross told Rocket Digest a point guard is his #1 priority and a post player is his #2 priority.

Question: If a player is released from his Letter of Intent due to a coaching change, is he eligible to play right away at his new school?

Yes.

A player can be released from his LOI for any reason and still be eligible to play right away as long as he has not enrolled in the school, which would be the case in this instance.
Tubbs is not a big man. He is a strong 6-4 guy (about Tino's size) that can do some work inside but he's not a post defender and rebounder.

Dante Harvey is a guy who has bounced around a lot (3 HS in 3 yrs) and now giving up his ride to UT. Not sure what kind of advice he's been getting but hopefully Cross is sincere in saying he wants to help him find a good fit. He's a talent that probably needs some stability and consistent coaching to excel.

Clearly we need another post player and I think Cross will sign one with 3 rides to work with. The irony here is that Stan was gonna have his most complete roster in a long time, but his firing now has Cross scrambling to fill it out like Stan often was in recent years.
