Which just shows that you can take propaganda and make it sound any way you want. We all know the reality.
The spin becomes overtly obvious when you read the article and see how ticket sales have "declined," yet look at the table and see the "tickets revenue increase and game guarantees." All these recent articles are making them very nervous. They're trying to get all their ducks in a row before the governor comes knocking.
If true, I am glad that they increased revenues somehow. A few things struck me as being funny though.

"...While ETSU’s overall ticket sales declined from $236,017 in 2006-07 to $206,624 in 2007-08, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins said the change was expected due to scheduling issues heading into the season. Those issues included four of ETSU’s conference games being played during semester break for students, and three home games played on Sunday afternoons – including the Kennesaw State game on Super Bowl Sunday. "

Maybe someone can educate me on who is responsible for scheduling. Why would you schedule something if you know it is going to be an issue? I think we have all questioned the Super Bowl game already. How does four games played during semester break for students affect ticket sales? Don't students get in free?

"...he also ultimately played a schedule that was ranked 18th toughest in the country at one point midway through the season.” saying this is embarrassing.

"...with the completion of the new Summers-Taylor Soccer Complex scheduled for this summer," Things are so good we are now saying the stadium will be completed this summer. ETSU's website says Phase I is complete but Phase 1 includes scoreboard, press box and lights. It has been a while since I drove by the stadium. Is any of that stuff actually finished?
Am I the only one who would like to see ETSU strive to have the 18th toughest schedule in the nation, period?
I had to stop reading that. I will go on the record as saying whoever came up with that could not have passed Professor Jablonski's Probability and Statistics class, and they DEFINITELY would fail Dr. Berg's Accounting classes. I didn't know the boys from Enron and MCI WorldCom moved to Johnson City.
So how will they report those numbers in the federal report? Gee, will the EADA be right or (drum roll) only "apples and oranges"

Could they be counting on student attendance because the current student fees are the only thing keeping the doors open for etsu athletics (small caps) and they should consider them as paying customers? They are not being truthful about those numbers (dollars or seats filled). If you've been in the place you would know.

In other words, do we really care the color of lipstick they are putting on that pig?
I especially liked how the bucs bball attendance compared favorably with Davidson. Yes, I'd say 65% is favorable. Way to go, Dave!

Oh, and our peer institutions, Winthrop and Missouri State. How the mighty have fallen.
The schedule strength fell off a cliff then because Sagarin put ETSU's schedule rank as 230+ at year end.

This is not a knock on the bball team as they did have one of the toughest schedules in the ASUN

Did Sagarin put it there, or was that what their schedule strength actually was?

That's like being one of the healthiest persons in the emergency room.
That would be a doctor.

And you know that we have to bend over backwards for them!
