I was very surprised not to see Ted Hilary nor Steve Welmer at the finals.
I have always thought Welmer was the best, but I wonder what caused Hilary to be graded low enough not to make the final 4
Hightower was there it is obviously flawed!

Maybe it was his performance at the UAB v USM game at Hattiesburg?
I saw Hillary calling the NIT final. I was also surprised that Welmer did not call any NCAA tournament games. I read a story on ESPN that there was a mix up in the security clearance paperwork for some of the more experienced officials (Jim Burr was mentioned) and this would prevent them from calling any tournament games.
I did some more digging on this and found out that the reason Welmer did not call any games was b/c he was assigned only one game in the opening rounds. Most of the "bigger name" officials typically are given 2 games. He rejected his one game assignment[/align] and by doing so knocked himself out of calling the rest of the tournament.
