I've watched Memphis play 3-4 times this year and I think you are definately a top 15-20 team, but do you think you can match the play of Michigan State, assuming you get by Miss. St? I'm going to watch your game today and I may change my mind, but I'm going to say the Spartans open at -8.5 over the Tigers.

MSU has a decent team but underperformed misserably this season. We lost to several scrubs and didn't win a single championship. Our best player, Lucas, is a quick freshman and tough to stop. Raymar Morgan is a mismatch in the post but gets in foul trouble too often. Drew Neitzel is a good shooter if you leave him open. Our bigs rebound well but are quite limited offensively. Should be a decent game for 30 minutes, but I see MSU pulling away in the final 10 minutes because of rebounding and defense. In the end, Memphis just doesn't have the horses to upset a Big Ten opponent.

i've seen both MSU's (Miss State and Michigan State) and i think Miss State will be a tougher test than Michigan State...the Spartans will have a TOUGH time moving the ball against our larger, more athletic guards...Derrick Rose and Andre Allen would give Drew Neitzel fits...i think we would win that game by 8-11 points...but first, we have to worry about Miss State.

Go Tigers!!!

If you are willing to actually put your money where your mouth is, why don't you go ahead and give me the Tigers +8.5, and I'll go ahead and take your money. Good grief. Where do you people come from?

Affirmative.
Miss. St. scares me more than Mich. St.
Thanks for the compliment. A 15-20 team? Is your brain frozen? 01-wingedeagle

It started out as a respectable post, then went off the deep end. 01-wingedeagle Nah, just kidding! I'll give you credit for lack of familiarity, as you said yourself. This year, we DO have the horses. Some of our "good" teams in the past have lacked something at a spot or two, but this year's is pretty solid.

We have a QUICK freshman who is tough to stop. We have a post player who is a mismatch for most, when his motor is running and the ref's call it evenly. We have an offensive post threat, when he's into the game. The 6'10" backup big is an offensive threat, but prone to silly arm-slap fouls on shooters. We have one of the best wings/penetrators in college b-ball. Neitzel won't be left open, AA will take care of that. See what you think after watching today. 04-cheers

The parents of a 5 year old in Lansing, Michigan are missing their laptop right now. Because apparently, "Tradition" boy stole it.

Do you live near a nuclear power plant. This isn't smack talk; I'm just curious. I'm doing a study on brain damage and I'm trying to determine if there's any correlation.
Tradition smack?

I don't necessarily think that MSU has better players, but I think the Spartan's defensive philosophy can really limit the Memphis offense. Your offense is basically about breaking the defender down 1-on-1 and then kicking to the open man depending on which defender comes to help. I can't imagine Michigan State allowing this happen. I don't respect Calipari's recruiting ethics, but I do respect your team. I just think MSU will have more success against a team like Memphis/Tennessee then a strong, balanced squad like Pittsburgh/Wisconsin. Of course, this is assuming you defeat Mississippi State.
Hey, we better watch out - The Tradition once score a mightly 36 points in a game this year. Hell, CDR could top that on his own if he played more than 28 minutes a game....

So how about that Grand Valley State game, Sparty boy?
First the cowbell 'tradition' at Moo State, now the obnoxious yankee tradition in Mich St. What will we ever do against it?
