Western Kentucky would be a great fit for the MAC is a commentary I wrote up after watching WKU advance to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament yesterday. Feel free to discuss as I am curious to see how others feel today about this topic.

I agree that this move makes sense geographically. I also agree that this move would be great for our league. My only question is this; What do we have to offer WKU?

While I'm pretty sure most people still consider the MAC better than the Sun Belt (with all the MAC hating, you never know, though), the Sun Belt did just get two teams into the tourney. While the Sun Belt may not get national attention, we haven't exactly been on ESPN every week either.

Football wise, the upgrade in reputation would be a bit more obvious, but it might be too soon to jump into a "mid-major" league for a school getting started in 1-A. Granted, there have been some schools who have made this transition with ease, but there are also some who have struggled. Maybe going with the smaller Sun Belt league would be in their best interest. Does anyone know how good WKU was in 1-AA?

I also have to bring up the fact that there are plenty of people who follow MAC programs that they would like to see leave the MAC (I'm not one of them). Some schools seem to regret not leaving the MAC when they had the chance. If we can't appeal to our own fan bases, it seems to follow that it would be very difficult to appeal to a new member.

I would be exasperated if WKU entered the MAC. I'd really like to see this happen, but I'm just not sure if we're the right fit for them (although I'm by no means an expert).
i would love to expand south a little bit
WKU and MTSU would be the logical choices for MAC expansion.
You say you want to know how I feel about this? I feel it has been discussed to death and it isn't even a close enough possibility for me to bother clicking the link to read the article.

Are you sure about that?

Personally, I would've loved to add WKU and/or MTSU when we had the opportunity. I don't know for sure, but I think they're locked into the Sunbelt.
They are no more locked into the Sun Belt than Miami (FL), Boston College, and Virginia Tech were locked into the Big East.
