11 days ago we had a great senior night. We were the talk of the town, actually pulled a decent church night crowd, celebrated a successful year and had hopes to not be back in Bartow again. Well we aren't going to be in Bartow again (barring a miracle) and its not at all the manner we had hoped for. What the hell? 2 bad games against decent competition and suddenly were looked at as trash. This further proves that Conference Memphis is a laughingstock to everyone outside of it. If we end up 1 and done because all the wind has been removed from our sails it will only embolden that idea but its dang hard to always fight an uphill battle. I'm sick of Conference Memphis. The entire league office needs to be flushed. Where are the guys who used to run the SunBelt when we were in it?
UAB and VCU used to run the Sun Belt because we were the dominant teams. Just like Memphis has the pull in CUSA right now, because they dominate. You want influence???? Win.
It's a fine wine in Birmigham, I see.
There's a simple way to deal with "Conference Memphis". Man up and beat them.

We would have beat them...if it wasn't for those dang refs!
And if I were a foot taller I'd be an awesome shot-blocker.
I would rather the tournament be played in Abilene, Tx than Memphis.
Memphis is very beatable away from FEF. they are darn near impossible to beat at home.

C-USA is a joke. just handing them perpetual home advantage every year.

Who has the attendance figures?
Did all the non memphis games even tally up to one of the home team's game attendence?

That is a most interesting statement, considering the one game Memphis lost this year was at home and they won all of their road games.
We didnt lose that Memphis game at the Gene Dome just because of poor officiating. I think Davis is a great coach, and an all around good guy, but I think he just got out coached in the end. We had an 11 point lead that we let Memphis eat away at. Where was the time out? It was called after Memphis had tied it up. You call the timeout when Memphis starts gaining momentum. At the end when we sat on a 7 point lead with about 2 minutes left was crazy. You cant play keep away with Memphis. The refs were horrible but I dont believe they were the only ones to blame. Davis is a fairly young coach, he will learn from the Memphis game.
I also want to know if the total attendance of the 8 games Memphis was not in equals a single game that they were in. Nobody from the 11 other schools in Conference Memphis is bothering to go to that laughingstock of a tournament.

How is the rest of the league supposed to get any respect when our own da%$ league office serves us up on a silver platter to be smacked down!
The other schools do not attend the tournament not because it is in Memphis, but because they don't care. If they cared, Rice and East Carolina would have brought their cheer squad and pep band. If they cared, UTEP would not have hired a local high school band to pose as their pep band. If they cared, Southern Miss would have sent more than 25 fans five hours up the road even after they won two games.

Frankly, basketball is only important to three or four schools in this conference. It falls behind football and baseball at several schools.

Move the tournament and you won't see the out of towners increase, but you will see the Memphis contingent decrease.
Memphis has done nothing to be Conference Memphis.

They can be beat, fair and square.

Seriously, Memphis is beatable. I say we quit beating this dead horse.
Obviously then I'm not the only one who doesn't care for being abused at the hands of our league office.

I thought the star of the league should be used to help prop up the rest of the league, not the one lone star being further propped up at the expense of the other members. We must all be crazy to not happily run up to golden Memphis to receive our whippings. What a great way to increase interest from the rest of the league.
the point is that there is no equity in having the tournament in memphis every year to boost memphis fan turnout.

i don't care about high attendance. fair play.

Memphis is 41-7 (.854) away from FedExForum over the last three seasons. I wouldn't classify that as "very beatable" away from home.

You would if you are prone to make asinine statements.

Good point.
Like it or not, CUSA needs Memphis as much as Memphis needs us. They are slowly elavating this league and that will be very evident over the next 2-3 seasons. They are the bar and we will rise up to it. Believe it.
