MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia running back Noel Devine was among four Mountaineers' football players to plead no contest to misdemeanor battery charges after being arrested Thursday.
Also arrested were defensive back Eain Smith, 19; cornerback Brantwon Bowser, 20; and running back/receiver Jockee Sanders, 19, the Morgantown Police Department said in a news release.
Each player pleaded no contest in Morgantown Municipal Court, the police department said.
It was not immediately known whether the municipal court assessed any penalties against the players. A telephone message left Thursday night with the municipal court was not immediately returned.
Police said the charges stemmed from an altercation outside Club Z in Morgantown on Feb. 16 but did not provide details.
"Discipline with the situation has already been handled within the program," WVU football coach Bill Stewart said through a spokesman. He said he would have no further comment.
Last month, Stewart dismissed three other players charged with felony possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.
West Virginia begins spring practice Friday.
Devine, a 20-year-old freshman, capped a stellar first season with West Virginia by running for 108 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-28 victory over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.

To err is human to forgive Devine.
He needs to stay in his dorm room until he graduates or leaves for the NFL.
Fulmer Cup here we come!

BS post.

Up to now your comments as a fan outside of the BE have been of interest. This certainly crosses the line. If you have any further details for the reason for this incident let us know. Otherwise, keep your cheap shot comments to yourself.

I guarantee that if it comes out that Devine and the others instigated this incident Stewart will punish him and almost all fans of WVU will support that decision.

After seeing this post I would ask what is your interest in being in this forum besides stirring up trouble?
BS how? WVU is currently fourth in the rankings:

No stirring up trouble here, but you're awfully defensive.
Why shouldn't I be defensive? You are highlighting a "poll' that does not in any way base its decisions on facts. Being in the poll itself is a negative. The outcome of the story, the facts and how WVU handles the issue is what is important. Just because you say "no stirring up trouble" does not make it true.

All that you are doing is adding to a stereotype. People pay attention to the initial negative story and often do not follow up as to the true outcome. That is the nature of the gotcha media.

Wow, Syracuse is ranked #18. At least we are ranked in something about football.03-lmfao 03-lmfao

The Fulmer Cup determines its rankings based on player arrests. How many WVU football players have been arrested during Bill Stewart's 3 month tenure? That's why they're on the list.

Great, perhaps Morgantown has a better police department then other schools not rated.

Have you looked at other areas of this pathetic site that lists the ratings?
I have; it's a fun site that doesn't worship athletes or athletic programs.

It's not media. It's a site that can push whatever BS is on their agenda. Verifying a story and getting to the facts is what makes journalism. This stuff often doesn't meet that criteria.
To my knowledge, they've never claimed to be journalists at EDSBS. They're fans, and their site has a clever bent. They don't play favorites, that's for sure.

We just had a weed story break today, so we’re going to *blow by the Cuse once again 04-rock 03-nerner

*The use of the word “blow” is not just a coincidence BTW 03-lmfao

Then why add that here? I have no problem with highlighting the initial story but tying it in with a site that has no interest in getting to the facts of a story is not news worthy IMO.

Because it's clever. Again, why so defensive?

i do not perceive these site as "clever" when they do not not investigate incidents and check facts. I would imagine I am defensive because along with the site you have linked, ESPN and other media will run the healine before investigating the story.

I knew I'd find Syracuse in the top 25 somewhere if I just kept checking all the lists and kept hope alive. GO CUSE!!!
UL has its revenge 'Cuse, we came in at #10 - though we had to share that 'honor' with 3 other teams 03-hissyfit
I'm not overly concerned about a bar fight. These are kids. They still don't know how to handle alchohol (of course, some never learn how), and alchohol makes you ignorant. I just don't want to see him making a habit of it.

You'd think John Daly's example would deter folks. Some don't care, and some never learn... 01-wingedeagle
The kid got involved in something stupid.. make him do some wind sprints.. and suspend him for the first game then let it go. It isn't a big deal.

Good grief....what do you mean its not a big deal? If this would have happened at USF, most UCF fans would be in circle jerk mode and calling for these kids to get jailed for life, probation and forfeiting of wins. 03-melodramatic

oh the humanity..... ;^)

seriously, I don't see devine getting more than a slap on the wrist b/c he will counted on heavily next year to help carry the load.
