...on Gilligan's Island. I'll bet the Professor had something to do with that. I would have suspected Ginger, but not Mary Ann. 03-cloud9

Everyone pretends that they liked Mary Ann so they don't come off as superficial and shallow. I would have married Mary Ann, but for a weekend? Ginger. No question, she was smokin and KNEW IT!!
Tina Louise was a bich in real life. She hated the show from the very beginning, didn't mix with the other actors on or off stage and made no bones about wishing she'd never done GI. She cost the entire cast several tidy "Guest Appearance" sums before and after the series ended because the promoters wanted all of them or none of them. She was always throwing temper tantrums during filming over trivial issues.

Russell Johnson (Professor) and Alan Hale (Skipper) enjoyed doing the series and were aways in good spirts. Dawn Wells was also usually upbeat. Actors who played the Howells and Gilligan had their good days and bad days, but Louise was always a wet blanket.

The show typecast them all and they had a hard time getting roles after it. But who would have thought they'd still be doing reruns 40 years after the fact?!
Jim Backus or Bacus was definitley not an unknown. And Gilliagan had a role a Manner G something on the Doby Gillis show. Never knew that about Ginger. It was pretty darn funny show.
Backus had done some films including working with James Dean. Denver was beatnik Maynard G. Krebs in the old Dobie Gillis show 1959-1961 or so. Johnson had done a some westerns and appeared in the usual scifi shows like One Step Beyond, Outer Limits and so on as a guest star. Also did some Sci Fi movies, including some real stinkers. LOL.
Russell Johnson (Professor) was a navigator on B-25 bombers during WW2. On one mission he was shot down, badly wounded in both ankles by an exploding Japanse 20 mm AA shell. The guy sitting next to him in the airplane was killed by the same shell. The plane ditched in the ocean just off the Jap island and the Jap soldiers were coming out in boats to capture them. But then all the other B-25's in the formation came back and strafed the waters around the life raft until a PBY came in and rescued them. Johnson got a purple heart and silver star for that mission.
Like I said, for a weekend, I'll take Ginger and some earplugs for 500, Alex.

Yeah, she was that "girl next door" that everybody thought was so sweet. What they didn't realize was she was probably the one that corrupted your younger brother.
She definately turned him onto bong hits.
Jim Backus was also the voice of Mr. Magoo
