Just showed the Akron/Kent highlights, and one guy got the highlights wrong, saying Al Fisher was Woods, and Gotlieb jumped in and corrected the highlights. Then he insisted Kent is in no matter what. He said watch the MAC Tournament, because if Kent doesn't win it, then the MAC will have two teams, and that will take one of the "bubble" teams spots.

I didn't like him at the beginning of the year, he seemed like a know it all. But the last two months, he doesn't care what conference a team is from, he recognizes a good team when he sees one. I think it helps, that he announces the mid-week mid-major games on ESPN.
His having to work the mid major circuit helps, but watching that crock of sh-t show on ESPNU today about 'breaking the myths about selection' has reinforced my belief that the whole thing is a rigged up mess. They went out of their way to call us crazy for thinking that they had some skin in the game from the big time conferences. We're NOT STUPID PEOPLE!! Just pissed

If the MAC doesn't get two, their ratings will -1, DB will be at A Basin or somewhere warm, enjoying life. Screw them.

You're completely right. He's like a douchebag version of John Clayton, but for college basketball
I like Doug Gotlieb -- Good to know there's somebody in the world that like him
I should say I like how he gives love to the mid majors on occasion, but I still can't stand him when he talks about the BCS schools.
I would not trust Doug Gotlieb with my wallet.

haha...man, I actually am starting to like him more. He is sticking up big time for all mid majors now. Saying, we really don't know how good some of these bubble teams are(Syracuse among others), because they won't play any mid major teams on the road, and barely play them on a neutral court. Then Rece Davis jumps in and says, its about finances that they(BCS schools) don't play on the road. And Doug said "So what! And thats why we don't know how good they really are because there is too much of a financial disparity between the High Majors and the Mid majors."

P.S.-funny stuff JSPO...
I think I said in another thread that I hoped he would die. However, after watching him the past few days, it appears he has changed his tone.

He's a-o-k in my book.
I'm totally in the same boat. He is one of a very few analysts that don't have a hard on for the big conference schools. And he even played in a big conference.

We will see if he keeps this tone the next couple days...
This really isn't much of a recent change. Maybe a bit on TV, but he's constantly on ESPN Radio trumpeting the good mid-majors.

I love that he pointed out that hypocrisy tonight
I recently posted how much I dislike Doug Gottlieb. Since that time he has been color on two or 3 middle tier game broadcasts and apparently has switched sides.
He in no way sounds at all like he did just a month ago. Something shook him up and he all of the sudden has decided to champion the cause of quality non-BCS schools. I keep waiting for him to revert back to his former self.
One thing that hasn't changed about him is his "I am right and you are wrong" attitude. I don't see that one going away. I gotta credit him for not backing down from an argument, anyway.
