Interesting that you take shots at surburban areas outside of Memphis without factual backup...hmmm?

I need factual backup to say something weirds me out? I gave factual backup of why Collierville is messed up. Germantown has (thus far) not been AS extreme when it comes to pi$$ing off revenue sources before they ever open up shop.

ZIP codes are still too broad, in my opinion. Look at 38104 in Midtown and 38117 (mine) in East Memphis. If you based moving there solely on what Crime Tracker would say about those zip codes, you'd be missing out on some of the best, safest neighborhoods in the area.

Conversely, when one uses a zip code, some street description would help. Midtown 38104? Need some help.
I live in 38117 as well--raised here and bought here. Kind of on the edge living just south of Sam Cooper, but values are doing well.
Crime is rare. Much of it is people constantly leaving items in view in cars on Sanderlin. Unbelievable.
Violent crime is extremely rare.

I was just offered a job in Cordova. Live in East Memphis. Are Cordova property values falling as much as I have heard?

We live pretty close to each other then. I'm about smack dab in the middle of the box you'd make if you connected the dots b/t White Station, Mendenhall, Walnut Grove, and Sam Cooper.

I was trying to give the guy a helpful hint on where to move so in the next couple of years they are not looking to move again. For example out of cordova..If he wants to live in a fairly safe area away from thug life, in my OPINION he needs to move to G,town, collierville or some further down the road like Lakeland. The reason you got mad is that you probably live in one of these areas and realize it is going down the crapper. I lived in Cordova 3 years ago and moved out because it was turning thug then, now it is even worse. I speak from experience pal. So kiss my a$$. I have friends who live in bartlett and complain of the same thing. So you can double kiss my a$$.

Moron

You can have an opinion if you like, but it doesn't mean your opinion isn't wrong. Neither Cordova or Bartlett are anything like Whitehaven or Hickory Hill. Hells Bells, asswipe, Lakeland shares a border with Bartlett and Memphis. If Bartlett is "real thug", then Lakeland is next.

I live in Bartlett and amazingly, I don't fear for my life from "real thug" Bartlett. I have friends in Cordova, and while the area is in transition and property values are hurting because of it, they don't fear for their life either. Germantown and Collierville are nice, but they are mighty close to Hickory Hill and Southwind, and anyone as smart as you would agree those areas are "real thug" just like Bartlett.

Bartlett has some challenges bordering up on Raleigh just like Germantown and Collierville have bordering up on Hickory Hill and Southwind. But none of the above are "real thug", whatever the hell that means.

Double kiss your ass? No wonder you were scared in Cordova, you are clearly a p****.

You are a true dumba$$. If it is my opionion how can it be wrong. It is wrong in your opinion, so what. F you and your opinion, I can say what I want. And you proved my last point, I did touch a nerve because you live in one of the areas I mentioned and your getting defensive like a little school girl. And I never said that I was scared moron, if you could read correctly you would have understood that I was concerned for my children and their safety since those areas are getting more thug. Enjoy those declining property values and keep believing that you and your family dont live in a declining part of town. To me you are a giant P**** for not realizing what everyone does, or does that just make you stupid. Probalby both.
Wow, this thread has taken an ugly turn.
I guess add neighborhoods to politics and religion on the list of things not to talk about.

I don't know how much you think they are falling, but they are definately down 10-15% from a couple of years ago.

I just sold my house for $40,000 more than I paid for it 10 years ago (and am buying in Bartlett again). This is about a 35% gain in 10 years. Bartlett is getting more racially diverse, but it is not getting "thug." Although I'm guessing to you, that is one and the same.

As for whether an opinion can be wrong, how about this. In my opinion, you are a racist, a sissy, a moron, and harbor secret desires to blow strange men in Overton Park. Since it's my opinion, how can it be wrong?

Whatever mary, go back to row boating your buddies in your closet. Funny you should know about blowing men in Overton Park. So tell everyone, how does it taste. I'll just ask your wife the next time I'm in town to give her a taste. She is due for a real man since hers has been absent for a few years now. How's that for an opinion.

Just as stupid and wrong as the rest of your opinions, but at least you are consistent. At any rate, my wife wouldn't go for your suggestion as she isn't sexually interested in gay black men. Not that there is anything wrong with you being a gay black man, but it just isn't her thing.

By the way, were you just trying to be clever with the "next time I'm in town" line, or do you really not live in Memphis? Because if you don't live here and you are just getting your info from your punk friends who are trying to get street cred with you by talking about how dangerous it is in Bartlett and Cordova...well, there would be no real point in continuing with this. Although I can see how they would feel pretty cool telling their gay black friend about the time they saw Black/Hispanic/Asian people at the Kroger in Bartlett and they didn't know if they were going to make it out alive!

Hey homo, do you realize that you were the first one to bring up being gay and being a racist. Dude, if your gay thats fine, just be honest with your wife. Its about time, she has already figured it out anyway. At least thats what she tells me everytime we meet at the peabody. Does she do that thing with her tongue with you as she does with me, probably not. What is your hang up with race anyway, you really need to get over that, we are in the 21st century. Come join us in the modern era of thinking or does your pent up gay tendencies frustrate you past the point of rational thought.

How old are you guys? GO TIGERS!

04-cheers
I live in Olive Branch(North Mississippi) but I would suggest Hernando, MS. Very nice area. My sister lives there and works downtown. Doesn't take long at all. Best area in desoto county IMO.
Can we nix the backbiting (no Marv Albert references here)...? I was enjoying reading this thread because one day I might move back to Memphis, and even more possible is my daughter moving there one day to go to U of M.

I don't want to have to pick through someone's petty argument in order to get useful information. PM each other if you want to fight.
Where in Arkansas do you plan on retiring?

21-17 Best Time I Ever Ha Wrote:Rational, Collierville has a wonderful history, too.

3601, My post does sound kind of negative. Sorry. I still live here because my elderly father and brothers are here, although they are moving to Fla. soon.

My job is one that I cannot move, but I am planning on retiring in the next five years and moving to Arkansas.

I will hate the day I have to move away from my Tigers. I have lived here my whole life. It is home. But I finally realized that this town is not the same town it was. I never thought I would leave, but this town has left me. Landmarks are being torn down every day. I no longer recognize whole sections of town.

In the interim, I hope to write about the history of Memphis and enjoy everything good about it, and try not to get mugged. Seriously, if you had been the victim of crime as many times as my family and I have been, you might feel the same way I do. I think some of us who live here do not realize how less stressful and nice it is to live other places.
