Does anyone have any recommendations for a good wine under $8 that is not one of the big ones like Barefoot, Yellow Tail or Gallo? I am hoping to fiind a regional or obscure winery that we may have missed. Maybe there is one in Missouri or Arkansas?

One that is a favorite of mine when I am not indulging in Silver Oak or Opus is:

Columbia Crest - which is a fabulous wine especially for the price - I have found it at or around the $ 8.00 to $ 10.00 a bottle - depending on the type. They have a wide selection - some go to about $ 14.00 a bottle - but well worth the price regardless of $ 8.00 to $ 14.00.

Two words, one state. Columbia Crest, Oregon.
Borsao (pronounced Bore-Sau) is a Spanish Red that Buster's has for $7.99 per bottle. I first had it at Cafe 1912 and went out to buy more after dinner. Truthfully I much happier with it at my table that Silver Oak. I have a bowl full of expensive corks that look like a waste of money now.

I found a good white Tuesday, Palazzone Terre Vinate 2005, kind of a dryer white but great for fish/chicken veggies. It was $12 at Joe's at Poplar and Belvedere (the place with the funky spinning neon sign).
Ever heard of "Red Rooster".
Had a Dr. introduce me to that one time.
First sip, just about killed you but after that, smooth!
I think it might be more commonly refered to as "rot gut."!
LOL!

google '2 buck chuck' and you will have your answer dallastiger. they sell them at trader joes here in california. not sure if you get them out there, but you have to read the wikipedia article on that wine, which should be the first result from google. anyways, i didn't know about it till i moved to diego about 2 years ago (still can't believe its been that long since i have been away from mempho) ... anyways happy drinking.
Beringer has some for under $8 that are ok if you like like fruity wines. They have a White Zin and a White Melot that are ok.

I love the stuff surrounding the bottle.

MD 20/20 is always a solid choice

http://www.bumwine.com is a good source for these types of wine
Cham Ripple

I thought it was champipple
Nope, nope, I'm sure of it...

... it was ripple.
rojo mojo and wrongo dongo are two reds that buster's sells for about $8/bottle...they're both chilean, i think? one of them may be a shiraz.
FWIW ... Flying Fish - Merlot (Washington State Restaurant Consortium)
Smoking Loon - Merlot (Some of the Sebastiani guys in Sonoma)
CMS - Cab/Mer/Syrah (Washington State)

The Hogue Family in Prosser, WA makes some very good stuff AND they are moving to ... SCREW TOPs. They've had it in their Rieslings and other whites but are now going full production on screw tops. I hear the industry is moving that way as well...even the "Hotentot Snoots" as well. If you like a sweet white, the "Late Harvest Riesling is OUTSTANDING ! !

Enjoy ! 04-wine

$2.47 Wal-Mart LOL

It's when you want to get your drink on for cheap

Seriously, Sam's in Southaven has some good wine for like $6 bucks for a big bottle. If you want something fruity and boozey. No Joke, Wal-Mart in West Memphis has an absolutely great selection of wine priced under $15.

The Mount Bethel Winery, Post Familie Winery, Wiederkehr Wine Cellar, and Chateau Aux Arc are Arkansas River Valley wineries that may interest you.
Crane Lake - Cab Sav, Pinot & Merlot are quite drinkable...$3.99 a bottle (discounts available sometimes on larger purchases).
Trapiche Wines from Argentina are great and are resonably priced. Pinot Noir for $8.99 at Buster's
