Mike: Congrats. A well-deserved honor. Shouldn't this blog be a part of a regional Web site, though? I have one in mind.

Nah.
I make just enough money on google ads to pay for 30 season tickets that go out to deserving youngsters and two for myself. (One in the club level, but I always find my way down to the lower level .. more cheering...)
If one of those kids becomes a rabid-frothing-in-the-mouth Temple fan like I did when I was 10 years old, it will be worth it.
You see, when I was a kid, Temple won 14 straight games and had a head coach who was widely considered a genius on game day.
This "Temple=bad football" is just a recent phenominon, like the last 17 seasons or so.
I don't see Temple football like most other MAC posters.
I see it as the 14-straight wins, 10-2 1979 team, the 7-4 1990 team and the Bruce Arians teams that went 5-0 against the MAC.
When Temple has a good coach, it has good teams.
The same can be said for our MAC brother teams and I was a BIG-TIME MAC Football fan for the 10-15 years prior to Temple getting involved and I'm even a bigger MAC fan now.
There was a weeknight game on TV earlier this season and I was channel surfing with the newsroom TV remote and came across it.
"MAC football," I yelled. "I LOVE IT."
One of the young editors, a guy in his late 20s, agreed.
"MAC football, baby" he said, "it's awesome ... I've always been a MaC football fan."
And he went to Tulsa.

Congrats! It is always nice to see someone's hard work recognized.

Mike: As it should be ... In the waning years of BGSU's Blackney Era, I recall folks expressing sympathy about Falcon football. It struck me as odd, because BG football to me was Brian McClure & Denny Stolz, a major force in the MAC.

As an "old timer," I think this perspective is healthy and important.
