Anyone know when KSU will announce the 2008 football schedule.

Thanks!
It was supposed to come out almost a week ago ... now its been delayed again - as usual - by the MAC office.

Your guess is as good as anyones. This happens every year and its frustrating. Talking with other reporters and administrators outside of Kent, the "when is the schedule coming out" question has become a running joke.
My sources told me last March that Chryst locked himself in his office and didn't speak to anyone else on the MAC staff for weeks because of this deal. Someone has to be held accountable.
We have a football team?
hahaha. not much of one if you ask me.
Nice attitudes.04-chairshot
I'm really expecting a lot out of the team in the next 2 years. It sounds like the recruiting class was strong. We better hope the coaches know what to do with the talent.
Yeah, I am sure that Michigan transfer who just ended up in the police blotter will help out greatly. The sad thing is this school and program compete at a national level in men's basketball, wrestling, gymnastics year in and year out and the reason no one cares is because FOOTBALL is the bead and butter sport! That is why this school never gets the national attention it deserves. If football was at least in the top 75 in the country, we would be receive the national attention we deserve.
The 6-6 team from 2006 got more national press (USA Today, NY Times, etc...) than any men's basketball team not in the top 25, or any wrestling team in the top 25.
Hammer, you're right. While the gap has closed during the 45 years I've been following sports, this is still a "football first" country, and is even more so around here. Since there is absolutely no chance that Kent will even consider abandoning football, it would behoove them to get that program a heck of a lot better so that the football publicity helps the total sports program at Kent, rather than bringing it down.
I am a huge Kent fan and was one of the only students to attend every home game. Even made it to Akron and Ohio State. The football team is frustrating, last year I was hoping for a bowl and we won 3 games! Football is not marketed right and the atmosphere at the game sucks. They do nothing to get the fans cheering or excited. The most they did was force Q and Julian to show up and throw shirts.
Would you be speaking of the Marketing & Promotions Team? I forgot what they were called in 2005. But I hate to tell you the facts of life in marketing... You can pour as much money, as many creative and innovative ideas, on-field promotions as you want and call it "minor league baseball" but people will not show up unless you WIN! Ask anyone in athletics all of that is for show. Sure it plays a factor into the overall enjoyment. But I can promise you fans don't sit home on Saturday morning and say.. "hey we got to get out of the house today and go see that great promotion for ohio state football". It comes down to winning and losing, bottom line! Nothing else you do matters. And last time I checked they did improve the outer bowl, landscaping, aesthetics, construction of a new scoreboard this summer and tailgating. So I think the efforts are showing. But before you knock the program and administrations efforrts, knock the talent on the field or lack of coaching. That is what matters most of all.
Honestly, Coach Martin seems like a great guy and seems to be able to recruit. I am not sure about coaching though. Some of his decisions make me scratch my head a bit and the team seems to fade down the stretch after strong starts. That seems to be coaching and adjustments as well as injuries. This season will be a big tell for this program and Coach M's future. They are pouring a lot of money by Kent standards into this program and I think everyone associated expects some on field and in the stands results. They are competitive and that is good for a change, but if they don't break through soon...

Doug Martin's boss's boss (think through who that is) expects a significant improvement in football results as measured by wins and losses next season.

Good hear. If I were in his position, based on the resources expended I would be looking for some tangible ROI too .
I think it is safe to say, if Kent football finishes below .500 this season, Martin's job is on the line. This will be his fourth season. He has had time to recruit a full class. Bring back Dean Peas. I can't believe the success he is having and the fact Kent even had their hands on a guy like that.
kentalum22, you sure you are Kent Alum? You might be better off over at Zipsnation. Most of your post are negative against Kent State. A little weird you joined 2 days before the Akron game.
Dean Peas never coached here. You might be thinking of Lonnie Carrots or perhaps Steve "String" Beans. Bobby Lettuce was an O-line coach or maybe Randal Turnip former D-backs coach. Dean Pees was a former head coach here a few years ago, is that who you are refering to?
KentKrazy- You got me so figured out, don't you? No, I am a kent state fan but an honest, critical but fair one.
Wow I like how every single football thread started completely goes off topic LOL.
