Anyone have any information on who was there and how it went? Watkins from GBN was there said he had a "great" visit. With offers from a couple of B11 schools it will be interesting to see how we fare with him.
I was there playing for the kids while they were coming in. All I know is the McCariens room in the Yordon Center was completely filled and I heard a lot of the players that were wowed by the facilities. PJ did a great job of setting everything up, and it seemed like it went very well.

It's great this is the first off-season with the new Yordon Center completely in place!

So, anybody a subscriber that can summarize their thoughts on the visit?
Thye all say the same thing. Yordon is great, nice to meet the coaches and they get along with the coaches. Zielinsky said he was excited to meet PJ because he had a pair of PJ's gloves from a game he attended when he was younger.
I know a kid who is a junior and was scheduled to be on Campus Feb 16th - but that was cancelled. Is this what you guys are talking about that was re-scheduled? If so, I don't think he got the re-scheduling memo!
Don't know if it was a rescheduled day or just the expected second day turned into the first day.

March 5, 2008

Quote:Naperville North junior fullback/linebacker prospect Nick Mlady (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) has been getting ready for his upcoming track season this winter. Mlady has also been looking hard at his college options and suitors and recently made an unofficial visit to Northern Illinois University. Mlady gives us his impressions from DeKalb and much more in this latest recruiting update.
I'm sure this OT was also at the NIU Junior Day.

OT Schofield talks early offers
March 4, 2008

Quote:Orland Park (Ill.) Sandburg junior offensive tackle prospect Michael Schofield (6-foot-6, 270 pounds) was an all conference performer for the Eagles and head coach Dave Wierzal last season. Schofield, who has added two early scholarship offers so far this winter, was able to make three unofficial visits over the past few days and Schofield talks about his latest visits, offers and much more in this recruiting update.
NIU should have a very, very good shot at Watkins. As I've mentioned before, some of the Big Ten schools aren't sold on him as a QB but love his size, and he knows he could be "the man" in DeKalb. If he really wants to play QB in college, NIU is probably his safest bet. Not saying he couldn't/wouldn't play QB at the BCS schools, but that's not a sure thing. NIU is.

He would be a terrific QB in NIU's offense and is a perfect fit with his talents and abilities. He would be the difference maker back there that NIU hasn't had since Haldi.
Wadkins is the son of Bill Wadkins who played OT for NIU around 83-86. It wouldn't suprise me if he keeps growing. His Dad is 6'6-6'7 and he had 6'11 uncles.
If you haven't had a chance to check out Wadkin's highlight films on rivals, do it. He looks awesome on film and has a cannon.

I'm not a rivals subscriber, but when I clicked on his fims link it let me watch usually 75% of the time.

Exactly the reason why Tyquan Hammock should come to NIU instead of MN, MN signed 8 LB's the past 3 seasons; his chance for early PT are much higher in DeKalb than Minny.

Excellent, we obviously showcased the new facilities and probably can offer this class a lot of playing time right away. I am expecting this coaching staff to bring in a huge recruiting haul with this class. Hopefully we can get some early verbal commits soon so others will want to join in.
I like his mobility. He is quick getting out of the pocket, can throw on the run w/ strength, and can throw while running to his left side. He has a rocket arm, reminds me of Dan Nicholson's arm strength.
