That story got me somewhat pumped. I have been a Cueto fan all along. As I've said before, my two favorite Reds pitchers of all time were Mario Soto and Jose Rijo.

I love hearing them talk about Bailey, Cueto, Volquez, and Maloney like they are all future major leaguers. I can't remember the Reds organization ever having 4 possible major league pitching prospects.
here's what you do, you sit all 4 guys down and you go... guys whoever has the best stats go to the show.

Even if they're all a year or two away, this team is in position to be pretty good in the next 2 to 5 seasons if these arms pan out. Factor in the other youth on the team like Bruce, Votto, Phillips, EE..................it's a good reason to be excited.
Don't forgeet Josh Roenkie. He's a relief prospect that will make the team or go to AAA for a bit more seasoning, but he throws 98 out of the pen.
Cueto, Bailey, Volquez, Belsile, Affeldt, Maloney, and Fogg. You would think the Reds would be able to find two arms in that mix that can be pretty good and give the Reds a very solid rotation by July. There's just too much talent there.

I think Belisle and Fogg are in the rotation unless they look horrible or get injured in the spring. Fifth spot comes down to Affeldt and Volquez. Actually since they typically won't need a 5th starter for a few weeks, Affeldt goes to the 'pen while Volquez goes to AAA. Whoever looks better when the 5th slot is needed gets it. Bailey, Cueto and Maloney need to show they can outclass AAA hitters before moving up to the show.

If Volquez, Bailey, Cueto and Maloney all start the season in AAA, I gotta believe that's the best rotation in all the minor leagues regardless of who the fifth guy is (Shearns?).

I'm not smarting off here, but haven't they already done that to the satisfaction of everyone concerned? Is there such a thing as too much good pitching? I'm afraid of Dusty's propensity to play more experienced players, and we see all the young pitchers, Bruce and maybe Votto back in Louisville. That would be a crying assed shame.
