Lets start a tradition at NIU to remember the five fallen students from 2/14/08. At the conclusion of the third quarter of all football games, lets hold up all five fingers to salute these victims.

Most schools hold up four to represent the fourth quarter, but holding up five will be much more meaningful and will forever be passed down through the years, thus never forgetting these five students.

Let us all start this tradition at the Spring Football game.
i hate to say it because of the circumstances, but this is just a tradition waiting to happen that would be meaningful even down the years. Maybe 5 fingers with 30 seconds of utter silence before every 4th quarter?
very good idea guys. i like it.
Awesome idea
HMM, any plans to paint / affix the black Huskie ribbon on the bus or mobile?
I love the five fingers salute.
I absolutely love it. There's plenty of time to get the word out before the next home game. This tradition could certainly live on if we can get it going. There needs to be some promotion of course.
HMM what an unbelievably great Huskie idea!!

Yes, on both.
Why not start it at the basketball games now and carry it over to football?
Well.. it doesn't make much sense at a basketball game. It's split into halves for one. At football games people already stick up four fingers, it seems a lot more relevant for football.
5 minutes left in the game? (basketball, non-quarter sports) 5th Inning (baseball, softball)
i mentioned it in an interview today

Why not just hold up five fingers -okay four fingers and a thumb- whenever the fight song is played and we sing or play the verse "forward together forward"?
For some reason the athletic dpt really doesn't like this idea

Any reason?
didn't Wake Forest do this a couple of years ago with they won the ACC? i believe it was for the death of a brother of one of their team members.

i'd be curious to know why the athletic department isn't into it ... anyone?
