TW mentioned on the radio that we would sign a CB next week. Any insight who this "player to be named later" might be?

I think there is a JC CB from California listed on Scout as taking an official visit this weekend..Not sure what his name is, maybe Evans?

Mike Evans, a 1-star JC CB on Scout, not listed on Rivals.

5'9", 180# going in to his senior year of high school, but now listed at 5'11", 185#

scout had him as the #15 ranked HS CB in California in the 2007 class.

Straight out of Compton.

Thread should have been called, "Evans to sign with Memphis next week!"

Man, sure wish there was a stud like DeAngelo still waiting in the wings that we could get involved with. Nothing would make our spring sweeter than a late, great signing.

well, I'm not going to dream the impossible, but it would be nice to have a few late signings...maybe solid players that make their grades late or whatever...

I think that most of those waiting didn't get offers from anyone that they wanted and are now waiting to see who if anyone has holes that might offer them.

He says that he is playing in the SEC next year. Probably at Auburn maybe Ole Miss.

He did play for NWCC last year.

Any word yet on the cb to be signed later?

He is a JC guy who just passed his ACT test so he can transfer to a 4 years school but he has to be cleared by the clearing house which is holding up him taking visits. May take some time going through the clearing house.

I talked to a lady who is very close to him about a month ago. She said he was still trying to get his grades up. She said Hargrave is tough. Maybe things have changed since then but I would really be surprised if he played D-1 ball this year.
