So, does anyone know the official attendance. I think there was somewhere between 18 and 20,000.
If it was in the Sunday paper I missed it.
23k and change i believe it was
I believe the official attendance was 23,109.

My pre-game guess of 23,698 was pretty close.
Now the question is... with the exception of the Southern Miss game, will we have a game this year that will surpass that attendance mark? I'm not sure we will. Not UCF, SMU, or Rice are likely to bring very many fans with them and certainly none of those are very big name teams that will draw out the local crowds.

So my question is, do you think we'll get more than 23,000 for UCF, SMU, and/or Rice?

A lot of this depends on when and if a top 25 ranking comes. With this schedule, we have to be the draw, not the opponent. Let's get to 5-1 and see what happens.
No, I don't think we will see 23,000 again until the Southern Miss game. It's a shame too. The Blazers deserve bigger crowds.

Barring a loss, we would play Southern Miss at 5-1, at home, on ESPN, and a shot at a top 25 ranking. You can't get me down. I say 40K for that one!!
U R so full of crap U stink 03-nutkick :chair:
I think UCF will bring a good crowd.

Rice is too far and so is SMU, although they could both get some good flights and that shouldn't be hard considering the wealth coming from those two schools.

With that said, I really hope we open things up and make it exciting. There are two things with the Rice game:

1. CWB coached there so he may want to be nice and not hurt their feelings by letting the players put a beating on them

2. HOPEFULLY CWB has so much pride that he doesn't want Rice to score more against his defense than they scored against his brother's defense and will want to score more than his brother's team did.

Going on history, I think #1 is what we will see because if we are holding things back I think we will continue to do so until we play Marshall.
SMU will surpass 23,000 because it is homecoming. Our crowds seem to get larger as the year goes on. I thought for sure JSU would have brought more fans. That's just my opinion though
I am guessing, assuming UAB wins the games it will be favored to win:

Rice: 17,245
SMU: 25,113
USM: 47,112
UCF: 21,745

for a UAB all-time record average of 26,465 ...

Wow! That is a great crowd estimate for USM! This will be a record year for attendance if you are correct!

BTR
You really think we'll get that many for the USM game? I certainly would love that. And Ruben, stay away so we dont get blamed for that junk again!
I think UAB will be able to get them out for 1 game ...
If they are 5-1, coming off a televised win over Marshall, they very well could be in the top 25. USM probably could be 5-1 and ranked coming in as well, so that game is basically to be the frontrunner for the division title (very well could be even if both UAB and USM take a loss before then). It would be the biggest home game in UAB history to date ...
I seriously hope that more than 21,000 come to see the greatest football player to ever play for UAB to play what could be his last game at Legion Field.
It would be nice, but the UCF game is up against Alabama-LSU and Auburn-Georgia. Sorta doubt it can compete

... now, if UCF had Duante Culpepper instead of the nation's longest losing streak ... :)

UAB just needs to host the championship game and give Dhack the sendoff then ...
Over the years I've noticed that crowds tend to get smaller as the season goes on, not larger. Of course this could be that the team tends to have a worse record as the season goes on so perhaps having a great record will reverse the trend.

The JSU crowd was larger than I estimated however they did show up late and leave early as I predicted. Those that left missed some excitment.

Watson is killing the crowds with his conservative style. I would say that the biggest looser Saturday night was the home attendance for the year. People want to see excitment and let's face it with the exception of the 4th quarter of the Tenn. game and a few plays here and there this year has so far been a yawner. I was almost hoping that JSU would tie it up Sat. night so that we could pull it out in OT. At least it would have given the game some spark and we could finally see the coaches play to win.

The home schedule is a bust and the only way to overcome that is to light it up and so far we've had a hard time getting many sparks. Watson needs to work on putting some excitment into the offense so that people will start to talk about us and get some buzz going about this program.
