Ok. There are no longer any excuses. Our student fan base is non-existant. We finally have a Saturday game and they still don't show up.

Pathetic...

For those 100 or so that showed up kudos. For those other lazy sorry excuse for UAB students 03-puke

I guess it's up to the Alumni to get behind the team. The students have better things to do.

Rant over...

Go Blazers!

BTW - It was good to meet CrimsonBlazer.
You know, forget about it.
One day, they'll look back and think, "Man, that season UAB turned things around. I saw...."
"Oh yeah, I wasn't there."
If they're too stupid to realize the value of the University they attend and support it's athletic teams, they're just fulfilling their ho-hum, blah, shoulda, coulda, woulda, near-miss, oh-so-close lives as they mindlessly shuffle on down the highway of life in their paramecium-like manner, only realizing what is tangible as they bounce off of it in an effort to blend in with the herd of "if it feels good do it" lemmings, all of which plummet to their deaths in a stunning testament of wasted protoplasm.
Now, I ask you, who needs that crowd?
GO BLAZERS!!!
You aren't kidding. That was pathetic! Also, its unbelievable to me to sit close to the court and cheer (and boo and heckle) and have everyone around you act embarrassed. I would say there were almost 10 people leave/relocate at halftime because I was vocal. Un-believable....as well as extremely disappointing. Students, take pride in your university. Some of those in the Golden 100..............[/b]
Listen man i understand your frustration but understand the "100 or so of us" that were there tonight have been working our balls off to try and get the other student body to games.
I don't know what would get more students there. we're advertising, promising food and shirts. I know this may sound ridiculous but tonight's student turnout was lightyears ahead of what we had this year.
*Also we HAVE to have the greeks show. That would help a lot if the Greek life came and cheered like at other universities.
And to the couple frats who came this year, props for showing.

*Disclaimer- I'm NOT blaming the greek life for poor attendence I'm just saying if they came it would help alot. (this is mainly for dfarr)
I take back everything I have ever said about giving the students better seating in Bartow. This is Sat. night, middle of the conference schedule, undefeated at home UAB team on the floor and the students are holed up somewhere playing xbox. The Murry years saw better student turnout. I wonder if Samford has better student turnout. UAB has come lightyears in trying to create a better traditional campus setting with more dorms, rec center, greenspace, food outlets yet student attendance was better when UAB was strictly a commuter college.

I've also noticed that half the students that do show up are female. I find this interesting because typically sporting events draw a predominantly male audience. I guess the university currently has a small enrollment of men and a large enrollment of boys with video games.
I was quite ill about the number of fans and students that had bothered to show up in bammer or barner attire. Especially one extra wide auburn pseudo fan and his one cell organism son that was dressed EXACTLY like him in head to toe orang(utan) and blue. They after the 1st half left their seats one aisle ahead of me and WERE ALLOWED in the Golden 100 section, mid court about 10 rows from the floor. 04-chairshot 04-chairshot 04-chairshot

I saw them 3.
I talk full responsibility for NOT being at the game tonight. Even GreenMississippi called to find out where I was. However, I WILL be camping out and at the Memphis game. UAB WILL give Memphis it's second conference loss in 3 years.

I saw them and thought the same thing. But I absolutely hate to UAB STUDENTS wear anything that is crimson.03-puke04-chairshot
I would just like to say that I play in the band and feel that we are the most vocal students at the games. Also, I saw a guy in the student section wearing a Duke hat and his friend was wearing a Auburn hat. That pisses me off so much! I mean you're sitting in the UAB!!!! student section, if you like another school, go to there games!
BlazerDave, good to meet you as well!! And all the other Blazers I haven't met yet!! LOL

Cjrun, I LOVED yer hat!! I ALMOST ran over there to get some beads from ya too!! LOL And I LOVED the guys with their "shirts". The girl with the Blaze on her was COOL!! I wanna do that!! That'll look awesome if I did belly rolls!! LOL Blaze dances!! LMAO02-13-banana

I was sitting the next Isle over from the Aubbies..eww!! HOW tacky!! And honestly, how stupid is it to go to a UAB game dressed in another teams colors??? :lauramac:Some people have no class...:muttering:

But I screamed, yelled and trilled my "zagharheet" for the team and am dosing myself with honey and tea to soothe my aching throat.. it was a good game, and I am SO happy I sat with the folks I sat with that yelled as crazy as I did!! LOL I even had one of the wives "zagharheeting" with me!! LMAO Yeah, its kinda stupid to NOT cheer at games.. why people gotta worry about being embarrassed by people who have spirit?? *rolls eyes* I say to hell with em!!03-nutkick We know we are TRUE fans! We love our Blazers and don't care who knows it! 04-rock

Hell, I'd get up and belly dance in the middle of the court for em!! LOL :moon2:

And if they dont like it I'll keep jiggling it anyway!!:muttering:

I didnt see you there BandGrad!! Hows your wrist healing up?? Durn!! I would have like to have said hello!! Did you have little man with you??

Its awful that *some* students have no class.. In the green and gold room there was a kid with a bammer hat on.. I said quite loudly its kinda STUPID to wear ANOTHER teams colors in a room full of BLAZERS..:hissyfit:You go to a school, you should support it.. I plan to do so when I am in UAB..and have already torn up, or used as dust rags, most of my bammer shirts.. Not that I had many to begin with..I wasnt really that big a fan as I am the Blazers..(new Avatarpic proves...)

Hope everything is well with yas!..
trust me, I am as upset as anybody about the poor student turnout tonight....

BUT,

This was the first game this year with a decent turnout of "regular" (non-students) fans. So think about that before you start taking shots at the students. The students did show up earlier this year, but it really just wasn't that exciting being the only ones there yelling in an empty arena.

ITS UP TO EVERYBODY TO HELP CREATE A LOUD/FUN/HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT IN BARTOW!

The fuller Bartow is on a regular basis, the more students will want to come back. It's hard for people to have university pride if they feel like they are the only ones who care.
You guys need to give the people in the Auburn shirts a break. Why, because maybe they are Auburn fans!
I know if I go to a Memphis game, I wear a UAB shirt. And when some of the UAB fans went to see Memphis and Alabama play in tuscaloosa, they didn't wear Memphis or Alabama shirts. They wore UAB shirts because that is who they cheer for.

Just be glad they came. If they had a good time, they will be back. Eventually they will wear green.

You're welcome.
A good deal of UAB's undergrad student body are older, married w/ kids, transfer, type people who just don't care about sports.

For the rest of them... the teenage children... they usually drive home and spend weekends with mommy and daddy.

I was in Biloxi this weekend... so I have an excuse....
