Can anybody explain to me why the MAC is rated so much below the Horizon League. The MAC's RPI is about 0.5000 (13th and threatening to drop with almost no chance of going up a notch) and the Horizon is in 10th at about 0.5200. I know 0.02 doesn't sound like much but the best conference is 0.5800 so 0.02 is significant. Is it just becuase they have a super team in Butler or does the Horizon have better top to bottom strength. I know Kent lost to Detroit but I think that was because we played badly and not Detroit playing well. Also we beat up CSU pretty good. What am I missing? Any opinions?
MAC non-conference record: 67-79
Horizon non-conference record: 52-42.

That's a pretty big difference.

In general, Horizon has fewer really bad teams than the MAC; that's the big difference.
