Found this on the CAA board (not a NCAABBS site).

deep in the thread is the rumor:

BTW, I just checked and the post is 5 weeks old.

I'll leave it for an Ohio person to set the story straight.
First I ever heard of it. That would be too bad if true. Garrett was outstanding for us in 2006 and I know that he still has performances like that in him.
That fumble at Toledo ended his days at Ohio. He never improved from his freshman year.
That is a bit harsh. Garrett was a playmaker for us. I don't see why with a renewed focus and a good spring ball showing that he can't come back into the picture this year. Plus, Abrams is gone so that leaves some shoes to fill.

Abrams was a FB and used more for blocking, especially blocking punts as he had 3 against Gardner-Webb. I don't know if Garrett can be a blocking fullback.

I was referring to the leading role that Abrams started to take in kick off returns later on in the season. He would have gotten even more yards on the season if he hadn't of gotten injured against Toledo. And if he hadn't of graduated you can bet that he would have that spot locked up for 2008. But, as it is, Garrett has as good chance to fill that role if he works hard in the offseason.
