Evidently they were all international students returning from Chicago.

Two young ladies were killed (both thrown from the vehicle). One was found under the vehicle after they used a winch to turn the vehicle upright.

Two students were injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two other individuals were also in the rental vehicle (a mini-van) and escaped with no injuries.

Not sure if all were graduate students or not.
As I recall BG lost several students in a similar tragedy a few years back? Its been a tough holiday season for this area- terrible traffic accidents, the infant fatality by abuse. Terrible.
I don't know if is just me, but I think it is doubly sad when someone dies this way.

All of my family members (parents and sister) are deceased but at least they died in a hospital under medical care and without undue pain. Also having seen a Catholic priest before death.

I feel for those killed on the battlefield, in car accidents, natural disasters (e.g., hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc.), airplane crashes, fires, coal mining accidents, etc.
Imagine
...slashing your travel budget while becoming more productive.
...using your travel time to work, to relax or to socialize - with refreshments just steps away.
...bypassing congested urban highways.
...stronger, more vibrant cities.
Imagine
...fast, frequent, and dependable trains connecting the entire Midwest.

Imagine the families of these students to whom none of whatever you are talking about is of any comfort whatsoever. Not sure this is the thread to advance public transportation or whatever.

Yes, we lost six young ladies a few years ago as they returned from spring break in Florida. They crashed in Northern Kentucky (if I remember correctly)
after losing control of their vehicle on a slick I-75.

First off, I am sorry to hear about this. There are several NIU students/faculty that die almost every year on a road North of DeKalb. It is sad whenever this happens.

Having said that, thanks for posting. That really should be done. It will help cut down on auto and airline traffic. The only problem I see is getting people out of their car or airplane and into a train.
That's right near the I69/Toll Road split. That entrance/exit is the worst along the toll road. It's right next to the outlet mall. I take that every time I go see my mom in Ohio.

Give my best to the BG family...
