I couldn't help but comment on a pic on the ETSU website. I was looking over the proposed athletics facilities (I didn't know they finished the soccer stadium and had their first game back in August).

Anyway, at the bottom left corner of the website, there is a pic that is pretty indicative of the state of ETSU. I'm sure the web designer meant for us to focus on the little girl holding the "go bucs" sign. But my eyes went straight to the two men below her with a look of "here we go again" on their face.

Now that's the look of ETSU basketball today! It is funny. Take a look at:

Good one! Pretty much sums up what our games are like now! There is only one way to go and that is up. I hope.
Sorry but it looks more like they didn't want their picture taken. Has nothing to do with the state of ETSU sports.
Yeah, I don't think it's a big deal. Just typical kevster looking at the negative. For someone who says he doesn't care anymore and basically turned on the program, he sure seems to keep coming back to take a jab every now and then.

Really, for an ETSU fan to turn to the Big Orange completely is unforgiveable. I don't care what your reasons may be.
Kev just tells it like it is. Most ETSU fans would try to make the comparison that since Dayton beat Pitt today, ETSU is just as good as Pitt.

Uh, no. But that's the reason why ETSU is in the state they're in. Too many people around the program making excuses and not enough realizing what they can be.
Person and 2002,

Oh, you misunderstand. However, I understand it's difficult for you to grasp too much outside your self-imposed parameters.

I just thought the pic was funny. If you didn't get it, too bad. It was funny. The guys looked bored/frustrated/whatever.

It was just funny. Pass it by. Forget it. Get over it. Everything's not about my trying to belittle ETSU. Just thought it was funny.

In response to your other comment:

And it's hard for me to totally get over ETSU. The university calls for my advice and instruction from time to time. Sure, I could just say "no." But I probably had a longer, more involved relationship with ETSU than anyone on this board.

A father who worked for the university. Schooling at University School. I've spoken at Alumni Day and other events. I still get called on to advise and teach by various departments. It's hard to overlook the state of the Bucs, even if I have found other schools to support.

And, if you're mad at me, you should be mad at almost everyone related to the university. For it seems to me that all but a couple of thousand folks have found other schools to support in athletics. Even the present students don't support ETSU sports.

If I'm wrong, tell me. But I think it'd be easy to fill a book with the names of past and present ETSU folks who now support other teams.
Which is sad and speaks to the character of those people.
Well, Kev. You didn't say anything about it being funny in the original post. You said it was a "here we go again" on their face. I guess you have the ability to read what people are thinking from the photograph. If you thought it was funny then say it was funny.
As to your all important place in the world of ETSU advisement I guess I don't care as it means nothing.
And for the state of ETSU support, sorry but there has never been much support for ETSU sports. I don't see much differance today vs the last 30 years. ETSU has a sports department in name only. Always have always will.
It takes character to blindly go with everything the administration tells you?
"always have, always will." Guess there's no point in trying to better ourselves, it's just no use. That kind of thinking is why we lost football and why we belong in the A-Sun. Bring a leader in with some vision and the fans will start to have some too.

Goldfinger

clearly you slept through the early 90's
Pitt, Gold, Kev 00 and whoever else cares

Understand I don't agree with what is and what has happened at ETSU. Dropping football was stupid. I get it and understand it. I've been attending ETSU sports since the early 60's. Been a pirate club member for 10. I saw the success of basketball in the 90's and thought it would be what was needed for the university to plan for the future, but basically they did nothing. Just hoped for the continued success of Les Robinson and company. Remember how many AD's have been at ETSU?

What I'm trying to get you to understand is that the university in general lacks vision & planning. It's been with us forever. When a university has to place ETSU pride signs on the highway every year to try and motivate the community and faculty then you know you have a problem. If the community valued sports at ETSU or for that matter if they valued the university then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I only had a problem with Kev reading someting from a photo which I didn't see. As usual it becomes a bitching contest or something.

Hope things change for ETSU. Not sure it will but maybe someone can proof me wrong.

Hmmm. I believe I did. Right there in the original post.

Your apology is accepted.
