Talking about us losing our autobid.

Pffft. CUSA fans have been saying that for 4 years now. They're still waiting.
"Reason #3 - Money. The other major conferences do not like the idea of having to split a full share of the BCS money with a conference that only has 8 football teams. The Bigger conferences want the ability to make it easier to have 2 teams selected to the BCS Bowl games every year. If the Big 10, SEC, PAC10, BIG12 and ACC fail to get a second team (and more money) because one of the picks have to be given to a Big East team (that fails to finish in the top of the BCS standings), look for a change."

That seems plausible.

I'm sure the majority of the BCS autobid conferences would like, at the very least, to prorate the payouts based upon conference size. But then the Pac-10 would veto it and threaten to pull out of the BCS and take the Rose Bowl and the Big Ten with them - sort of like what they are doing now with proposed Plus One model. 03-wink

If that were plausible they would have never allowed the Big East to keep their BCS bid to begin with. There won't be any change, so the Ohio State fans in that thread need to learn to live with that. Especially since a BigEast team has finished in the Top of the BCS standings each of the last 4 years.
How can Cinci fans stand to live with Ohio State Fans--ginormously arrogant bunch.

Agreed. I thought some Syracuse fans were arrogant. These Buckeye take the cake. Only group I've seen worse from are Longhorn fans. 03-lmfao

I think part of that arrogance is a little bit of insecurity. Now I know why I root for Iowa when it comes to the Big 10. Great group of fans there.

Cheers,
Neil
Here is alittle lesson for them there are 10 slots. 6 are automatic bids leaving 4 open slots in reality those spots usually go to SEC,Big12,Big10. I dont believe the ACC nor BE has had TWO slots in BCS. So they should just shut their mouths an ACTUALLY COMPETE in those bowls. The Big10 has been a joke for past few years and if LSU thrashes Ohio State this year thats TWICE in a row their champion would not had been competitive in a BCS Bowl so maybe they should lose that slot

I think you're right about the insecurity part. Ever since Cincinnati moved into a BCS conference and has had success Ohio State fans have grown more annoying. Before, thanks to being in a non-BCS conference, Ohio State got all the coverage in Cincinnati. Now the Bearcats football team has started to hold serve here in Cincinnati and fielded a Top 25 team and OSU fans have been b*tching and moaning. In the past Cincinnati has NEEDED to play Ohio State football in order to draw fans and get national attention. Now we don't need OSU, we don't talk about OSU, and we don't care whether or not we play them, and that angers them. The latest has been the Big East doesn't deserve a BCS bid, which is ludicrous. The Big East had more ranked teams then the freaking Pac-10! They actually think that West Virginia changing coaches = the death of the Big East as a BCS conference. Amazing.

It wasn't the death knell for the Big East when Louisville lost Petrino. And it won't be the death knell for the Big East now that West Virginia has lost RichRod.

About the only thing that could spell the death knell for the league is for Pitt to keep Wanny and for us to keep GumpRob into the next decade! 03-lmfao

It's a good thing both can recruit. Although I wish upstate New York was as great a recruiting area as Pitt has. 03-wink

The problem is The BEast isn't going away like they wanted. A new argument must be found. In time they come up with something plausible, and The BEast destroys the argument by continuing to win and innovate. 04-rock

Great points--Winning and Innovating.
Did anyone else pick up the number of times on the OSU boards that 'tradition' was brought up. They are so wedded to it that it blinds them. Tradition is the nemesis of innovation.

I've noticed the same thing in the up-tick in volume of Kentucky's fans attacks on UL. Definitely insecure. When UL was CUSA champ they went to the Liberty Bowl, couldn't do any better, and uk fans were fine with that. But win the BE and go to the Orange Bowl, being on a big stage, it drives them absolutely nuts with envy and fear. 03-lmfao

Oh, in Louisville's case, Kentucky is probably 10 times as bad as OSU is with us!
another bashing thread for the glue factory...

You're probably right about that 'Claw. OSU is a more respected institution and the OSU folks seem to be better educated as well. If you throw insecurity/ignorance in the mix with envy/fear then it leads to a very ugly/volatile situation, IMO.
first as a cusa. fan.... the BE isnt losing its auto bid.. I have said that from day one... but fans making stupid comments isnt nothing new...

That seems plausible.
With 10 bids to the BCS bowls I can't see that being much of a factor. The other conferences will usually get the second at-large bids anyway. The percentages work in their favor as to the number of schools getting into BCS bowls. The Big Ten should certainly not complain with Illinois making it in.

If the Big East gets two teams in BCS bowls it will go a long way in making this "Big East not worthy" argument mute anyway.

Could any sane person argue that Arizona State deserved the bid more then WVU?

Percentage of teams in BCS Bowls

BE 1/8 = 12.5%
Other Conferences 8/57 = 14%
You have to hate OSU they get paid, don't go to class, and they get arrested all in the cause of winning. It alkl starts with the evil vested man. He is a fraud! O$U SUCKS! and the Big 10 is way over rated. The Big East has them shaking in their boots regarding the ground we have made up in the last three years.
