Quote:DeKALB - Jerry Kill hasn't had a chance to enjoy his new office.
The newly minted Northern Illinois football coach has endured one of the craziest weeks of his life, starting with a semifinal loss to Delaware in the FCS playoffs and ending with him being named the replacement to Joe Novak.
The rollercoaster week had Kill making a roundtrip journey from DeKalb and back in an attempt to solidify both NIU and SIU. The whirlwind situation continued this week, as Kill returned to more duties and obligations, including Wednesday's appearance on Comcast SportsNet's “Inside Huskie Sports,” which is taped at Fatty's Pub and Grille.
Kill hasn't had a chance to finalize his coaching staff nor sit in his own chair in his new office. A source confirmed former NIU and Kaneland standout P.J. Fleck will stay on as wide receivers coach, while Mike Sabock, who spent 24 years under four head coaches at NIU, and the rest of the coaching will not return. Sabock served as the defensive ends coach and recruiting coordinator, ending his tenure with an defensive end earning all-conference honors for six straight seasons.
However, Kill did have time for one thing - shaving his mustache. The clean shaven Kill sat down with the Daily Chronicle to answer some questions following his first “Inside Huskie Sports” appearance.
