It'll be interesting to see what, if any, effect the various coaching changes have on EMU.

Now that Rich Rod is at UM, CMU's Jones is considered to be a candidate for either a UM assistant job or the WVU head coaching job. If he leaves CMU it will likely impact EMU's recruiting.

NIU also just brought in a new coach so that might also impact EMU recruiting. It'll also be interesting to see if anyone transfers from UM or NIU or anywhere else.
W'Nickle:

I don't see any changes at CMU. Butch Jones isn't going anywhere.

The only change I see is that UofM will be MUCH better team going forward and that will be bad for us (as we play them every couple years).

The biggest change, I think, is if some UofM assistants are not retained but I doubt any would take a 50% pay cut to come to EMU or a MAC school.

Jerry Kill should invigorate the NIU program. He'll recruit well in IL where he already recruits well.

Remember that this year SIU was a better team then NIU.
Second interview for Jones at West Virginia.
I don't see Butch Jones being ready for a top 10 BCS program yet.

I'm not sure he has the experience of an Urban Meyer (BG -> FL) or a Brian Kelly (GVSU -> CMU -> Cincy).

Unless, WVU says we want a spread offense coach who knows their program and players.

I wouldn't get excited about possibly Jones leaving CMU and that hurting Central's recruiting.

CMU gets nice exposure with the MACC and great ESPN exposure with the MCB last night.

That really helps CMU in Florida (check out the CMU scout.com site - they are making a living recruiting Florida).

This is the 'front page' of their site full of FL recruits.

I have no idea what Central would do for a new HC IF, IF, IF Jones leaves.

If Jones leaves they need to get a good spread offense coach or else Dan L. would be wasted under a new offense.
Did some checking on the WVU' boards.

Their consensus is that there is no favorite for the job.

I believe ESPN did a disfavor to Jones, CMU and WVU by taking a presumed true statement (BJ will interview today) and then through repetition turn that visit into more then it will be.

Jones is one of several candidates in the mix.
Last year all the raves were for WMU and their Florida football recruiting, didn't do much for their overall program. EMU's recruiting class was not rated highly but stayed in Michigan and that class has a very good chance of being productive. This year WMU is back in Michigan not Florida, CMU was in Michigan last year but in Florida this year. EMU is concentrating in the Midwest mostly between Michigan and Ohio.

This seems to support your past assertions that recruiting is a crapshoot.

Without trying to sound like a Simple Simon 01-wingedeagle most MAC recruiting is recruiting two star 'prospects' - kids who are development candidates and then seeing who actually does develop.

And maybe a three star candidate who may have a question mark (e.g., grades, size, attitude, etc.).

A blue chipper is fairly rare. Big Ben and Nate Davis are exceptions. As was Walt Church had an offer from Notre Dame, I believe. The rest of the excellent MAC QBs in the last 10 years have been development players (or even less highly regarded). E.g., Dan Lefevour, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Batch, Charlie Frye, Chad Pennington, Byron Leftwich (I saw him play in high school - in D.C.). I don't think a one of this list got a BCS offer.
