Full Version: Does Ron Turner suck?

Inside your 5 yard line and you put in Wolfe and run him straight up the middle into the heart of 2 350 pound guys that have the Vikings number one in rush defense. He gets stopped, so you yank him and put in Adrian Pederson and do the same him with him, so he can get stopped and you have to punt. Now he'll say the running backs have to "step up" instead of admitting he can't call plays!

I just noted the same thing on the other thread(at least the first part about Wolfe straight ahead).
Looks like all those who posted on the other threads were right about Turner once again. No Wolfe in sight except for one play(on a bad play call at that).
FWIW, Wolfe carried 3 times for 5 yards and caught 2 passes for 10 yards.

I have no idea why they use Peterson on those screen plays, he's not nearly shifty enough to make anything happen. At least Wolfe gives you the chance at making a somewhat big play on those types of plays.

Wolfe just has no chance behind this o-line...he's not big enough to break through contact and drag guys at the NFL level.
Apparently Turner wants to see Wolfe fail and it looks like he will get his wish. Even the annoucers were making fun of Wolfe. I doubt that he has NFL ability and I don't think he will be with the Bears next year.
Furious just seems like such an inadequate word when it comes to describing the play calling. We can all agree that this is one of the worst offensive lines the Bears have had in years, but still, what about play action, back up the middle and left or right gets open against a linebacker. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to design these plays to get GW open in the flat or against the DBs. It is not like having to move (2) 350 lb. linemen off the line for your running back to gain yards. This one is actually easy.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......................

Wolfe having NFL ability and not being with the Bears are 2 separate things. I bet there are plenty of teams that would have drafted Wolfe in the 5th-6th rounds. Those teams will be interested in picking up Wolfe because they see what we see, that Wolfe doesn't have a chance with the Bears O-line and the ******-up play calling. A different team will put Wolfe to good use in a Kevin Faulk-type arrangement.

I thought before this game that Wolfe will essentially be trying out for a spot on his next team. I would rather he was on the Bears but Turner is too stupid to use him correctly.
Turner is awful, but the problems run deeper than him. I think the Bears need to blow this whole thing up in terms of the coaching staff. I do not think it is a stretch to say that we have the worst coaching staff from top to bottom in the NFL. I really firmly believe that.

Garrett Wolfe has NFL ability. However, no one will ever see it if he is not used correctly. To run him straight up the middle against a human wall is the most stupid thing imaginable.

If Ron Turner were lying in a gutter somewhere gasping for air, I would stuff his air passages with Wolfe's jock strap - even though it would be a damn shame to waste a good jock.
Offensively there isn't alot of talent on this team. It's not just the Oline, Berrian is the only WR who can deep routes, get seperation and catch the ball(besides Hester who doesn't have enough experience in the offense). Moose Muhammed is a short yardage receiver he doesn't have the speed to get seperation from a DB anymore. Orton got pounded last nite.

Ron Turner had quite a bit to do with the success that NIU had in the late 90's /early 00's with his poor talent evaluation at Illinois, the number of quality players he overlooked that Novak signed is why he lost his HC job and now he's lacking in play calling skills. When this year is over, Hester needs to be made as large a part of the offensive scheme as possible and still be on KO return team. He's one of the few difference makers they have.
Their QB's are average at best but even Manning or Brady couldn't win with the talent on this offense.

Hester will NEVER be an average pro receiver. He looked absolutely terrible @ times last nite. Seeing him unable to run a basic out w/o slowing down stutter stepping was enough for me. Combine that w/ a terrible effort on a block against Whitfield. He will be the project that is never completed.
Da Bears looked as bad as I have seen them look since they were coached by Abe Gibron and they were pretty bad in those years.

Wow, i never though I would say this day coming..I actually agree with something you said.

coaching staff is horrible. Lovie is a bad head coach, he never should of got an extension last year. He doesn't make any adjustments at all.

During the Seattle game when Benson was running all over they stopped running the ball and Lovie said during the postgame that they started passing because eventually Seattle was going to stop the run....Why the **** do you stop running because you eventually think they are going to stop you?

I like Babich but he is forced under Lovie's system so this Defense can't open up. Turner just blows.

Unfortunately we will all be forced to live through another hellish year with Lovie at the helm....I WANT SINGELTARY
What word means "worse than sucks" - well that's what Turner is. I think Wolfe absolutely has the talent to play at this level. He still leads the Bears in yards per carry and yards per reception (for RBs).

It's just too bad he will be blowing by the Bears next season.

I agree, sometimes it seems like someone is intentionally trying to botch things. It makes me wonder if you can fairly evaluate any of the talent the Bears have. The coaches just do not put players in positions to succeed.
