I'm currently trying to make an All Time Toledo team for ncaa football 2008. I am trying to make this team because I think it would be fun to play against like the All Time Michigan, Ohio State, etc teams. Plus it would be fun to have Chuck Ealey, Chester Taylor, Bruce, etc on the same team. What I need is some of the alums to suggest some people they would like to see on the team. I know of a few guys that are no doubters, but I need some suggestions on the rest of the team. So if you could list guys by position that would greatly help. I will post the team and the stats when I finish it. thanks and go rockets.
WR Lance Moore
RB Waseon Tait
WR Mel Long
DL Dan Williams
OL Nick Kaczur
OL Andy McCullum (was he even any good in college?)
K Todd France
P Brett Kern
DE Jeff Jackson
DT Mel Long
NT Brent Williams
DT Ray Hayes
CB Curtis Johnson
CB Mike Kennedy
LB Mike Russell
LB Tom Beutler
LB John Niezgoda
LB Paul Elzey
DB John Saunders
DB Emlen Tunnel
DB Darren Anderson
DB Clarence Love
Punter Roland Moss
Kicker David Ridgway
QB Gene Swick
QB John Schneider
QB Grad
QB Chuck Ealey
RB Casey McBeth
RB Joe Schwartz
RB Roland Moss
RB Wasean Tait
RB Chester Taylor
WR Rod Achter
WR Carl Ford
WR Lance Moore
WR Donnie Fair
TE Jerry Evans
TE Vince Marrow
We have had several good QBs.
Hard to narrow it down for sure based on just stats.

Wasean Tait is my all-time fav RB.

Carl Ford is my top Receiver. Don Fair would probably lead many lists.

Rusty Hanna was a good kicker. Ty Grude was a good punter.

On D I like for my All Star team Clarence Love, Jason Lamar, Dan Williams, Mel Triplett, Herndon.

I don't know. It would take a lot of time to run down every position wouldn't it...

Yes, McCullum was good, although he was a bit undersized (265-270).
He came in as a Freshman around 235.
Jason Richards DL
Ernie Baskins DL
Tommy Boyd WR
damnit, why did i think mel long was a WR?
where would some of the most recent linebackers (ward, gardner, alston, jordan) fit into this?
A very good list so far, a few that I can think to add are:

SS Patrick Body
OL Jim Harding (4-Year Starter)

Is it too early to say Barry Church? lol

I don't know - maybe because he was a wide receiver... Jr. that is. His old man was an All-American Defensive Lineman - and I believe the only consensus First Team All-American from Toledo. I still remember the excitement around Toledo when he was on the Bob Hope Christmas special when he introduced every 1st team player. The players would say their name and the university they played for. Long was incredibly mean looking in his playing days - probably in part because he did a tour in Vietnam before he played college football...

LB's Russell,Elzey, and Beutler, all went in the NFL Draft.Niezgoda was simply an amazing LB on the nation's #1 defense.
Gotta have Donnie Fair at WR. Look at his receiving stats in threee years in a time when passing was frowned upon before third down and you'll see he was pretty remarkable. I'll throw Joe Schwartz in as a Slash player- RB, QB and H-back kind of guy.

Roland Moss was pretty good as a big back but Wasean would have been the best ever without the injury. Defensively MEl Long at DT and Curtis Johnson, CB as well as John Saunders at CB. Clarence love can jump in at CB in the nickle and Yeah, Barry C. can already be in the mix.

And he's the only Toledo Rocket inducted into the CFHOF...

UT/Hobart QB Merle Gulick was inducted into the Hall in 1965.

Kevin Rollins???
wow, you guys gave me a lot of work to do to get this down to a workable list. i would rather have too many people than not enough. do you guys know of a website or something where i can look up these guys stats? i'd like the stats so i can make their ratings accordingly. the idea of this team is to create a team of toledo players that were a significant player on their teams.

You may have to go to the Sports Info People at UT for that information, although some of what you might be looking for can be found in the Football Media Guide.

I'll still stick with France. I remember when he kicked a 55 yarder at the Glass Bowl against WMU.
