Looks like Kentucky making a strong push for him as of late.

Kentucky has jumped into the mix for Lilburn (Ga.) Berkmar standout Wesley Witherspoon. The 6-foot-8, 185-pound forward tells CatsPause.com that he has added UK to a long list of suitors, cautioning that he does not have a leader at this time.

Kentucky assistant coach Tracy Webster gets another assist on this one, as Witherspoon cited his relationship with Webster during his stint as an assistant at Illinois as the reason UK has been included.

Berkmar coach Tommy McWhorter has spoken with Webster a couple of times in recent weeks. "While we were in Lexington earlier this month for the Commodore Classic basketball tournament," McWhorter explained, "Coach Webster invited us to come over and watch the North Carolina-Kentucky game at Rupp Arena. We were shown around, and we experienced what I call an ultimate experience."

"It was crazy," Witherspoon said of his Rupp Arena visit. "We didn't get to see much of anything else, like the facilities or anything, but the game was cool. I saw it on TV, and I knew it was loud crowd, but once you're in there, it is a whole different story."

Witherspoon is a four-star prospect rated the No. 9 small forward and No. 56 player overall for 2008 by Rivals.com. The Wildcats were not on his list just a few weeks ago, but now are among the leaders.

"Kentucky is a player. It's an even race, right now," he said. The other schools Witherspoon mentioned are Memphis, Virginia, Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.

"Me and my family have to sit down and discuss things," he added. "We'll decide where I am going to take my visits. I don't even know if I am going to wait until after the season is over or if I'll start visiting soon.

"I don't know too much about Kentucky, but I am looking to find out more. I am looking for a good coaching staff, good facilities, and good academic standing with tutors."

They lost to Gardner-Webb and are 4-3 currently. Will be looking for new coach soon if they lose to UAB.
Good summary, ill text him.
