If you hear anything about the assistants staying or going please add it to this thread. We know PJ is staying. Who else?
Kill met with the NIU assistants tomorrow morning, and will then go to SIU.

It looks like Tracy Claeys (Defensive Coordinator) and Matthew Limegrover (Offensive Coordinator) willl be heading north. Tom Matukewicz, assistant coach of the year, will be a canidate for the SIU HC job, but if he doesn't get that he will definatley be coming north. Hopefully we bring over Travis Steeps as well.

Hopefully P.J., Beatty, and Sabock stay on for us. The rest I don't care about.
Limegrover is terrible. That is all.
on the Saluki board it really didnt seem like their fans were big fans of Limegrover at all...check this out http://www.salukitalk.net/st/viewtopic.php?t=18106
i hope he doesn't come north after reading this

His playcaling last Saturday was interesting to say the least.

So we should take advice from the suckluki message board? WOW....
Is Limegrover worse than Wittke? Bond?
I'm willing to see all of SIUs defensive coaches come north. Also their TE coach- but he's an alum so I doubt he'd come. I'd even be ok with their Limegrover but only as a line coach.

Very comparable to both of them.

All I have to say is we threw the ball SEVEN times in last year's playoff game against Montana. This year, he finally figured out the forward pass, but his 2nd half playcalling always got extremely conservative. He's not good.

You are down there, is the word that the Lime Man is coming up here? We can celebrate with corona!

We had a bottom 20 offense in FBS this year, and SIU averaged 38 ppg.

You decide.

(Yes, I know they played some joke teams, but so did we and we still couldn't score--like Temple).

I've heard that both coordinators are going to make the move to DeKalb.

I like it.
According to a poster on Salukitalk, Limegrove and Claeys are both coming (as I said) as well as RB Coach Robert Reeves.

Just speculation on my part, but would the hiring of Reeves spell the end of Beatty, who is our current RB coach? I assume Wittke and Doorbos are already gone.
Unless they "create" a position for coach Beatty, I would think the SIU RB coach would bump him. With our history of success in the running back area, and the Va. recruits, I would like to see Beatty stay as RB coach or in some other capacity.
One assistant I don't recall many people mentioning is Strength & Conditioning Coach Matt Mangum. Anyone know his status?

First off, Limegrover is the O-Line coach and O-Coord. I'm nota big fan of O-Line guys calling the offense to be honest. I like a skill guy myself calling the plays. We will see after tommorrow, but he will be bringing his coordinators, but that does not mean they will be coordinators here. They will still get an increase in pay here even if they are jsut a position coach. Just a thought. As for Magnum, he is hired by the entire athletic dept. He is not going anywhere.
Keepy Beatty and Fleck. I wouldn't mind keeping Witke as well. Would gladly take SIU's defensive coordinator, and any of their defensive coaches for that matter.

I would get very scared making any changes to our running game.

I would be very interested in that as well. I would hope that we have a renewed emphasis on strength and conditioning and while I have no real basis for it I have my doubts about Matt Mangum.
Saluki talk is reporting two more names coming to NIU. Remember, it's just a message board so take it for what it is worth.

Brian Anderson - Wide Receivers
Eric Klein - Strength Coach

The Anderson thing doesn't make sense when you consider we are keeping P.J., so again these names aren't confirmed yet.

So far salukitalk has said 5 people are comign with Kill.
Brian Anderson - Wide Receivers
Tracy Claeys - Defensive Coordinator/Safeties
Eric Klein - Strength Coach
Matthew Limegrover - Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line
Robert Reeves - Running Backs

Plus P.J. that's 5 assistant coaches, meaning there are 4 spots left.
