Ouch. It's bad enough that they can't sell tickets, but then you add in that they are begging OSU fans to show up? And you wander why MAC schools are looked down upon in Ohio.
Cry and moan all you want. BTW - Enjoy your bowl game suckers!!!
It's a smart idea by BG to do this to try and sell the tickets. It's no secret that BG has had trouble selling tickets to home games even. Last time they played in the GMAC bowl they did not sell very many tickets, as stated in the article. Doing this is wise if they want to try and at least break even.

I still think that UT and BG would be better off if only one of them were a Division I school. I'm biased so I will say that BG should either drop to DIII to play Mount Union or drop football all together.

Seriously though, if only one of them were a Division I (FBS) school then the attendance and fan support would most like be the best in the MAC. The schools are just too close together and split the fanbase up too much.
I'll take the Bobcats' win over Maryland, and showdown vs. Kansas on ESPN2 this weekend, over a bowl game 7 days a week.

To each his own. I'll take the bowl trip.

You don't even like basketball! You'd take a game against VMI over that.

Based upon that impressive performance put on by OU last year in their bowl game - I can't blame you.

But as for me, I'm looking forward to going bowling again!
As someone that played and coached basketball, I would still take the bowl game over the win over a major basketball team.

I agree, a bowl game is much more important to me than a basketball regular season win.

Agree on the first statement, it IS smart of BG. How many OSU fans have friends or family that went to BGSU. A fair number (albeit maybe not many... but a few) might say "Gee I didn't know BG was playing the day before...."

Disagree on the second, NC State, Duke and UNC are all closer in proximity than Toledo and BG. Yet, NC State and UNC average around 50,000 and Duke around 25,000 So, it is possible to have respectable attendance figures and still be geographically close to another university.
Can't Believe He Said that Dept:

"It's quite a haul down there for our fans," Meyer said. "Even if only five Ohio State fans are interested, it will help."

Instead of paying back $280,000 in unsold BGSU tickets, I guess that will whittle it down to $279,775.
it's a ridiculous idea. how many OSU fans would be so bored in New Orleans that they would decide to make a 2-hour drive to Mobile to watch a team that most of them would consider to be "beneath" them?!

smells of desperation on BG's part to me.
Wow, Rocket fans defending BG against OU fans. White is black. Up is down. I'm betting on the Devil Rays for the World Series next year.

Hey, knock yourself out. Just don't be too surprised when the respectable citizen(s) of Waterville come out and throw a bucket of water on you, or possibly even you and a partner.
