Seeing how the GMAC Bowl is on a Sunday night at 7 CST, it's tough to get the greatest # of fans there.

BTW, if Akron was in this bowl game, they'd be lucky to sell 200 tix. And how many Ohio fans made the trip down last year? Considering it was your first bowl in, oh, 40 years or so?

I'll be in Mobile for the game...you guys have fun watching BG on the tube. 04-cheers

And you should. You have been to one bowl game in 4 decades...and looked bad doing it last year. 03-lmfao

MobileBama just posted on AZZ that 8,000 Ohio fans made the trip last year for a Sunday game. That sounds a little inflatable to me.
Asking OSU fans to come to your game is begging and desperation. Good luck w/ that.

OK, so you don't know what 'begging' means.
Gooch, did you go to college. it's called marketing your product, all bussiness schools teach it. Heads up move by Bowling Green
Why shouldn't BG try to appeal to potential fans. They won the opportunity to go to a bowl. If any MAC school is going to attract more fans for their program, it is most likely the causal OSU fan. I think BG is being smart by trying to appeal to football fans and hopefully some of them might attend a game at BG next year.

Akron brought over 15K to our bowl game. I don't know why you would try to imply 200 tix. I wish we had a bowl game this season to prove you wrong. Best of luck in the bowl game!
BEGGING= standing outside the Schottenstein Center handing out GMAC Bowl fliers to Ohio State Fans, making an appeal on The Jim Tressel Radio show to bucks fans, emailing members of the Block O Club, calling Ohio State season ticket holders.

SMART, CREATIVE MARKETING= coming up with an outside of the box idea and putting little effort and zero money into an idea yet have it picked up by a Columbus newspaper, the AP, ESPN, and creating a firestorm of opinions in arenas such as this.

Seeing as how I have a masters in Sports Administration with a focus on sports marketing I couldn't let this "Begging" theory continue to be thrown around.

If they stand to lose as much money as we lost last year on that stupid game, I wouldn't blame them. Anything to sell tickets.
If Ohio State fans want to spend money on Bowling Green football, I think that's great.

Lord knows how much money MAC alumni have spent on Ohio State football over their years.

Money from Ohio State fans spends the same.
So is there a link or any proof of OSU fans gobbling up GMAC tix? From what I've read and heard, its been very, very few.
There are going to be Ohio State fans in the area and they obviously like football. Why not market to them? The only thing I don't like about the story is the mention of selling so few tickets the last time. I think that's why Gooch sees this as begging. If any other MAC fans are thinking about going, I can assure you that you'll have a good time.

At this point, you're becoming the pathetic one. It is interesting how obsessed you are regarding a business decision of an athletic department which is not your own.
I'll just reiterate that is hilarious how MAC fans diss OSU left and right. Yet, when you can't sell tix to your bowl game, you show up at their doorstep, kneeling and begging. Call it a bizness decision if you like. I call it desperation.

This is your perception. Perception is 95% reality. Judging on your reputation grade, your personal reality varies from the average.

OSU fans will be kneeling and begging Toledo for tickets for the '09 game in Cleveland.

It's actually worth twice as much, and the air around you sparkles when you hold it.

You'd have a point if:

A. The fans were selling tickets.
B. The BG ticket office had been taking shots at Ohio State.

Neither of these are true.

This is a game that actually involves OSU.
Actually the MAC should be marketing to the conf as whole to attend bowl games, any bowl game is better than sitting at home. And if there bunch of people from Ohio in the area, you should be marketing your product to them.
